I can't imagine how intimidating it must have been even for someone like Zakharova to dance Carmen in front of Maya. She's a wonderful dancer, but she doesn't have the sex appeal, sassiness and magic Maya had in that role.

@xxpehbcemm I read her first autobiography, and her writing seemed very harsh and honest compared to the sugar-coated autobiographies of Maximova and Komleva. Perhaps Plisetskaya has changed with age, or like me, she is bolder when she writes instead of in person/in public. I've heard people say they don't like her for her outspokenness...

SZ is a beautiful woman seems stiff and immature in the role. Just because someone is sexy looking doesn't mean they can perform it. Of course she's a good dancer but she's miscast in this role at this point in her career. Performing in front of someone who was iconic in the role just points up the huge differences between the two of them. Maya was a great dancing actress who exuded passion, sensuality and musicality... SZ is a great technician and a still developing artist.

Rosemary Camarda Rosemary, this is not flamenco and she's not pretending. This is music from a French opera with a Spanish subject. There is Spanish inspiration but it's still French and definitely not flamenco. And she's a classical ballerina doing classical dance, there're no flamenco movements at all. .
