I think I speak for all of us when I say this. Please add this to the full game and animate it. Please, this scene is so important to the story and would show us that Ava isn’t such a brat, instead of “FIGURE IT OUT LILITH” we could have a nice girl who realizes she was responsible for her actions, these 2 cutscenes would've changed the outlook on almost all of the characters, this is a scene that was more emotional than any movie I've watched, and I've watched a ton, but no scene actually got me to cry, I think adding this scene wouldn't fix the story entirely, but it would definitely changed peoples views on it and maybe make people like it a lot more, Gearbox I hope you read this and understand what I'm saying and do the right thing Signed, The Borderlands Community

I’m so confused as to why they cut so much good story from the game, they even had the vault hunters in the cutscenes and then cut them out. Not going to lie I’m really disappointed to see what could’ve been. :(

Because developers like Gearbox don't give two shits about anything genuinely artful. Putting this much emphasis on a characters death sets a precedent that any in the future need to be treated with the same gravitas. That would take time, time they would rather spend advertising and embellishing. I gaurantee you that when the animation/storyboard team came to the higher ups with this animatic, they were shouted out of the room for "wasting player time". Now Gearbox want to use it as a get out of jail free card to soften the relentless backlash they've received for their utterly dogshit story design. Why do you think they haven't made a peep about WHY this was cut? It's because they are craven assholes who want to monetize talent at the cost of its artistic integrity. The same thing happened with Roland in BL2 but for some reason people didn't care nearly as much for Roland as they did for Maya. He died but you just kept going because you can't really allow yourself to be vulnerable while there's a greater threat looming over Pandora. The funeral scene should've happened at the end of BL3, imo. Not in the middle of it.

Also Maya's death practically being footnote in BL3's story is fixed by having a funeral scene at all. Those were the core issues with her character, if that was handled better, the sting of Maya's death being Ava's fault, probably wouldn't have been as bad as it was.

WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS? I’m crying, like I did for Roland’s funeral. Krieg being there. Zero taking a pause before he casts the dust into the fire. That moment of connection for Lilith and Ava when she talks about Roland. This scene would have made the game. Everything else could have been exactly the same, except for these two scenes, and the game would have been vaulted like BL2. Because this scene is what’s missing from BL3: Heart. An emotional center piece. For BL2 that was how personal the conflict with Jack becomes after he kills Roland. For BL3 it SHOULD have been how personal the fight becomes after Maya’s murder, but it’s lost without this scene. Can you IMAGINE how pissed off and invested players would be if instead of walking onto the ship after her death and seeing that haha hehe edited video of Maya’s death, we saw it after THIS? Imagine, if they let Maya’s death breathe like this and then Troy and Tyreen brag about it after her funeral. They’d be as hated as Jack.

I'm crying! Why weren't these scenes added? 1st, it made me sympathize with Ava more and she didn't seem like a complete brat. She knew it was her fault, and she didn't blame everyone else. I played borderlands 2 for like 5 years or more and when Maya died i ddin't feel S*** about it, the first time i was just like "really????? Nah she's gonna come back later!" And at the end of the sotry i was atonished by how little theye cared about Maya (the cinematic and overall dialogs make it feel like that) But with just that great cinematic that would have been so much better and we wouldn't had to wait the 4th Dlc to feel like this was actually the End....

You really, really, should patch these missing scenes into the game. They should have never been cut from it. They're crucially important for character development and closure for the whole death scene of Maya. Honestly, I would even be willing to pay for that if it were part of a DLC.

Seriously.... Why did they cut this scene out? It actually makes Maya's death mean something! It not only pulls the heart strings the same way the deaths of Roland and Bloodwing did, but it made Ava much more sympathetic! She blamed herself for Maya's death instead of Lilith. She felt genuinely bad about it. She wanted to become better, so Maya's death wouldn't be for nothing. And God, seeing Krieg at the funeral and hearing Lilith talk about losing Roland to help Ava with her grief.... And what we got was.... "Figure it out Lilith!" I'm not gonna act like this scene would have fixed the entire game, but it would have been a step in the right direction....

PFF. FL4K, Moze, Zane and Amara in the cutscenes uh? Everyone knows that these vault hunters don't exist in the actual story, they didn't save Maya, they didn't kill Troy or even Tyreen. It was always someone else in these "Heartbreaking" cutscene to take all the merits. Gearbox why are you showing us this while the main storyline is already f***** up?

Borderlands 3 had a poor story, but the way they developed the lore was amazing. Even if it's dreaming too far, I would love to have Mikey and Burch back. Even if Burch's an asshole, he can write good things

I’ll gladly pay $10 for a DLC where this is literally the only thing that gets added to the game. Maybe they could also throw in a full fledge Maya Skin and hood for all the vault hunters, but I’d be content with only the scene.

You know, if Gearbox kept this scene, there would have been a much less popular misconception with Ava. That's why certain parts of storytelling are important. Hopefully, Gearbox doesn't make that mistake again.

3 years later and I'm still mad as hell they just didn't patched it into the game. I liked Ava and I still do like her but this not being in there really ruined a lot for the story and for Avas character.

This is cannon to me now. It at least makes Ava appear decent and remorseful that she took part in it, gives more depth to Lilith being accepted of loosing her powers and meanings of a siren, showing Krieg so we know how he found out about Maya....everything we needed is in this cutscene that makes up for a lot of the dislike ratio of the story
