This video quickly discusses how to bake deformers into a mesh using Blend Shapes. From there, the FBX can be used in engine!

One of the few problems of baking deformations into blendshapes is that the complex trajectories that the vertices follow in Maya become linear when converting to shapes. Just several days ago Keenan Woodall release 'Deform', a set of deformers for Unity that mimic the ones you can find in your favourite 3D package. 'Bend' is supported as well; not to be translated from Maya but to be built from scratch in Unity. It could be a nice complement to the technique told in this video.

Thanks for sharing, I wanted to know, what should we do with in-between blend shapes, because in my case they are not working in unity.

I followed this exactly and my fbx won't export with the blend shape animation. What am I doing wrong?
@dwainehiggins44514 жыл бұрын
How can you export the mesh and blend animation clip separately and have it work in Unity? I’ve been able to get this to work with the standard fbx export but not when I separate the mesh from the animation with the game exporter :(

How would you do this with a snake following along a curve motion path with a lattice deformer? Thanks.

New to Maya, sorry if this is a dumb question - does this increase or decrease the number of influences per vertex, I know Unity can only handle 4?

Can i do this with a skeleton animated rig but with local rigging? Which means i've added blendshapes to the main character, and these are animated via joints as well... How could i approach this?

I can`t see the keyframes on the timeline if I use the shape editor¿?
@thesdfable4 жыл бұрын
yeah I had the same issue. for some reason it doesn't work if you use the shape editor. Just do it from Animation - Deform> Blend Shape
@nicolasportu5 жыл бұрын
ok, but the real magic is how to import the blendshapes and use it in Unity. If you bake it, there is only an animation...
