This is so great!!! I’m having an awesome journey into re-learning maya again. Haven’t animated in maya since 2004.

Thanks for the tutorial!!! Can you explain how to make the joint chain and how to link it to the plane/solid and make the slider to move the curtain?

Look on the internet about setDrivenKeys. Other way would be to translate those root joints with an expression based on percentage. many ways lead to rome

thanks, very helpful, however how do you deal with COLLISIONS with other objects?
@62cky4powerthirst Жыл бұрын
Did you ever figure it out?
@danielspagnol1370 Жыл бұрын
@@62cky4powerthirst you can add a piece of geometry as a collider. just select the mesh and then go to nCloth and click Create Passive Collider.

Amazing tut but you are not showing us the main part of this working. How did you make the RIG? nHair curves on IK handle spine aren't something new! Can you please let me know how did you make the rig?
@kierandelaney48827 жыл бұрын
You could set up Set Driven Keys or, write an expression that says something along the lines of: curtain_1_Loc.translateX = 0.5 * curtain_2_Loc.translateX; curtain_2_Loc.translateX = 0.5 * curtain_2_Loc.translateX; You're also going to need `getAttr` in there before the ...translateX parts, to ensure it's retrieving the current translateX values of each Locator. Then parent the first joint in each chain to their respective locators... I haven't actually tested this, so it probably won't work; and my math at this time of day is pretty bad, so don't copy that word for word...but it's how I'd start, and you get the gist I'm sure.

Great tutorial, but what if your joint chain isn't connected through an SDK? What do I select to move the "base" that it's hanging from to make it swing?
@inkman0023 жыл бұрын
I know its 2yr old question, maybe i can help someone else though. The answer is simple just use the second joint down from the root joint. This way the root is free to move in space.
@lucarionite65382 жыл бұрын
Does it also have a collusion option? Like to prevent a scarf from going through a shoulder? Or is there a way to set keys to avoid it?
@62cky4powerthirst Жыл бұрын
did you ever figure it out?
@lucarionite6538 Жыл бұрын
@Krobbkag Destroyer Of Worlds no 😅 I just created a normal joint for my scarf and animated it like it's an extra limb to my character. There's probably a step I missed somewhere, but I'm no longer using Maya at the moment (it's a bit pricy now). I hope Blender has something similar, so I may still be able to learn it.

i'm going to sound like loser but you have to learn 3d meshing for Seconedlife if you wanna make objects mesh rigging its pain the ass.

would this be the same for solid objects like for example car keys?
