This was very interesting! I am amazed at how much you did while you were in college! I have had ultra productive phases in my life but right now I’m feeling very burned out and think I need to take a break from being ultra productive. Right now I’m focusing more on rest and mental wellbeing.

I completed 3 Bachelors Degrees (including my student teaching) from 2000-2004, 3 Masters Degrees back-to-back from 2006-2018, and am now finishing my PhD (2018-2022). I have always worked 3-5 jobs to make ends meet, including being a full time special education teacher for the past 17 years. How do you relax? My PhD work requires me to stay up really late most nights and then I have to be back up at the crack of dawn to fit in all of my jobs.

Wow love what you said at the end about rest! The sermon at church this week was about how we get so caught up in our busyness that we forget God commands us to rest. Our value/worth doesn’t come from how productive we are or what we do, but in who we are in Christ!💜

And here I am thinking a full-time job, a part-time job, and being a full-time student was too much. Given I want to continue my athletic training and that is hard to do on top of everything else because it's so physically draining. I want to continue working both jobs until I have enough money saved to quit the part-time one.

I wish I could do more but my work and commute takes up 14 hours of my day and I’m so exhausted for anything else. And I feel overworked and underpaid. I don’t even get 8 hours of sleep because I have to get up at 4 AM to catch a 5:45 train and sleeping at 8 PM is difficult with all the things I’ve to do. I am honestly confused about what to do.🙁

Thank you for sharing your experience and advice!!! It really is about thinking about the future, like how what we do today or even right now will impact our future. I also like the idea of making use of all of the available minutes or time in your day, as well as how you chose to act rather than sit home worrying! That's all really valuable advice that I'll also try to implement more often, especially during the school year!!!

When you said at the end to use my time wisely, it motivated me to delete prime video app off my phone cause I like to watch shows a lot. I can barely handle my part time minimum wage job, but it is cool to see what I could potentially accomplish if I made certain changes/sacrifices and had the drive. Thanks for another inspiring video Maya.

Hi Maya. You picked jobs that all had their own interesting things. I had to save up a long time for the period of time when I student taught. Actually, looking back a lot of what I found tough was the expectation to dress professionally (costs involved) and put in over 110 hours of the expected training/volunteering. It was no joke! On average it took me over two years to save just for that part of school requirements.

Feeling the need of constantly doing something was a sign of anxiety in my case, after my psychologist told me that I suffer from anxiety somehow I stopped feeling guilty, however, I'm still doing something, even working with something in the background and it's exhausting. Yoga helps me a lot because at least 4 times a week I disconnect from the world for an hour.

I saw the title and was, like, nope. Not for me. Don’t want this life. But I do have a variety of occasional side gigs. My favorite is pet sitting because it doesn’t interfere with my mostly remote day job. Why not earn two incomes at once? Lol. Someday, I’d like to have just one job. What a luxury. My time management sucks, despite being a really organized person. Ironic!
