the saddest thing of the video, is that the soldier who killed the guy defending the girl, was the youngest one and the one who didn´t want ahything of that to happen, the one who knew from the beggining that all what they were doing was wrong, but MaYan as well as Epica will keep on showing this kind of things as direct as they are, until people finally change

As a Veteran, a proud American, and yes, a HUGE Epica fan, I found not only the rape scene disturbing, but the implication that the rest of the team would sit by and watch. Just because there's growling, it doesn't automatically make it death metal. Bands like even Avantasia, where there's growling in certain songs (The Final Sacrifice, perhaps one of the coolest Avantasia songs), but Avantasia is actually symphonic/power metal. Death metal is when there's death/Satanic-themed lyrics and symbols, as well as the growling, and dark-sounding guitars.

Haha wow, I always told myself how I couldn't stand Mark Jansen's Death Metal vocals in Epica but I also told myself that if Epica had a way more Death Metal sound then his vocals will fit, and ironiclly I stumbled upon this band haha. I can now listen to Epica for the amazing Symphonic Orchestra & Choir sound, and Mayan for a "Death Metal" version of Epica lol.

@agominator I think you got me wrong, I'm not saying his lyrics are commercial (I'm well aware that they're far beyond that), I meant this video is intentionally controversial so that it draws people's attention. And I'd rather say it's a matter of the label spotting the light on a project that hasn't obtained the great success they expected (from my point of view). NB probably intended it to be a "new", "improved" heavier version of Epica, but it seems it will remain a "minor" project.

Its not a matter of whether the war is not real, or if it is, Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Society is only possible on the basis of poverty & ignorance. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory but to keep the very structure of society intact.

@AnataNile Mayan is a side project from Mark Jansen, Mark Jansen is the guitarist from Epica and he founded After Forever (what he left a few years later). Only thing is in this band he doesn't take the guitars for hi's part but here he's the vocals. And i think he does it really good. :) hope this answers a part from ure question ;D

Because my friend we live in a demented world and there are many.. many wrong things.
