Seeing Joey being himself as opposed to playing the character or Ray and how different these two are speaks volume about him as a player. A lot of players end up playing characters that are essentially "them but better/cooler". Judging at least from the couple episodes we got and this limited time in Club Auspex, Rey is a whole different person. An actual role Joey has to play, not "himself, but a hangry vampire".

I like the comment about Mayanna's route into VtM being Brian Dechart. Because I remember playing Detroit: Become Human for the first time after it had been out for -years-, seeing the intro credits, and going: "Oh wow, they got Prince Vannevar for this game? Good for them."

As someone who has been playing Ravnos since 1993 all I can say is that Mayanna is absolutely KILLING IT. It's so wonderful to see my favorite clan represented so magnificently.

I will say I took a while to get into the Rey character because of that outright abrasiveness, but after two episodes of being hit by it you start to get a lot of nuance in understanding that inner struggle and it is so far my favorite of the coterie. Because I go from "oh fuck sake Rey" to being extremely interested in seeing where he's going and what he will do. It has the potential to be a very rich character so congratulations on the portrayal.

The way Mayanna narrates how Serif sees the world is absolutely incredible. It seems like Serif sees the world and thrives in chaos, and the way she has no rhyme or reason sometimes makes her better, because she's probably not too sure what her compulsions are from either. What a fun character!

I do appreciate the teeny peek behind the curtain this gives us for NYBN. I know they're trying to avoid spoilers for now, so down the line this series will get very interesting. Joey's angry/antagonistic Gangrel character is excellent so far. Mayanna's character is very much an unknown at present, but it'll be fun to explore!

The Ravnos lore will definitely show up. I see no scenario where the week of nightmares goes completely unaddressed in NY by Night.

Alex was very much the Choas Gremlin in LA By Night, = Spoilers = when he decapitated that Sheriff. Apparently, things were supposed to go very different for the series, but that parking garage changed everything lol. So it's interesting to see Joey's Rey be that driving chaos in a very different way and now Alex is more of guiding hand who sits back and is confident, he watches before he reacts. I like Serif as well, although I feel like she hasn't really interjected herself as much yet. This is a very different mix of character personalities this time around. I look forward to learning more about them and their histories, as well as seeing how their clans play into things going forward.

"angry crochety old man chaos gremlin" I love that so much, both for the phrase and the character's role in the game. Hearing Joey talk about walking the line of a character who drags the party into narrative conflict without being annoying or out of line is really interesting to hear, and I think he's hitting that role square on.

Great episode and love these two :) Mayanna has a great energy and she's is playing her character really well, cant wait for her to be pushed into a corner to see what happens. And to Joey, getting thrown out of a window is AWESOME. Failure is AWESOME and interesting. Failure makes for interesting stories, you cant win everything.
