Next up for Top Rank Boxing, Two heated rivalries will come to a head Saturday, Oct. 15 in a historic championship doubleheader at the O2 Arena in London.
The previously announced main event will see two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields, the WBC/WBA/IBF/Ring Magazine middleweight champion, aim to once again become undisputed at 160 pounds by facing longtime rival and WBO titleholder Savannah Marshall.
Shields and Marshall faced off as amateurs, with Marshall edging Shields by decision at the 2012 AIBA Women’s World Championships in Qinhuangdao, China. Shields went 77-1 as an amateur and is the only female boxer to win undisputed titles in two weight classes.
In the co-feature, Mikaela Mayer will look to get one step closer to becoming the first undisputed champ in her division by putting her WBO/IBF/Ring Magazine junior lightweight titles on the line against WBC champion Alycia Baumgardner.
A total of seven world titles and two Ring Magazine belts will be on the line.

I just became aware of this fight, and I’m glad I did, as it has the makings to be a great fight. There is something to be said about the amount of energy that gets expended in a lead up to a fight, and investing too much of it into the trash talking & the emotions can definitely work against a fighter. Not saying it always affects the outcome, but it can definitely be detrimental to s fighter’s performance, especially in a high pressure environment like this fight will likely be.

I believe The only way Mayer loses is if she gets caught early, which I don't think will happen bc Mayer respects her opponents power. Mayer spoke factually, she seemed to be the more intelligent of the two. I see Mayer as the more complete fighter who isn't going to get caught with a big right hand. I could care less of her KO percentage, I am looking at her as a volume puncher who's elusive hard to hit. No doubt in my mind that she will in fact win.

This honestly was such a good fight to make, it could have very well had a separate card for them. Actually, I felt people are overhyping Alycia. Don't get me wrong, I like her as I do all big punchers but this is like the women's version of Gatti Ward. You say she didn't make the adjustments in her last fight but that's not what I saw at all. I saw someone who dug deep to come back and win the fight. It was Alycia I was not impressed with, she was supposed to easily win her last fight and instead it was lackluster performance. It was sad bc I like big punchers and wanted to see the KO but it didn't come. Mayer is the boxer Alycia is the boxer let's be clear on that.

I would have to say Katie Taylor is the one who deserves most credit and has brought substantially more of a draw then Shields, after all Taylor is bringing an entire country with her every fight. Plus she's the most accomplished Women's boxer of all-time. Well, I mean her and Amanda Serrano as most accomplished. Clarissa has helped bring attention but my fear is she could be turning people off with her attitude. It's really Savannah Marshall who's the A side who's selling out the arena for the fight. But I think Shields is talented but has an ego problem.

If ppl r great champions wouldn't they fight more than ounce just like any professional sport the playoffs is a series right but one could argue that their r more fightersv just as good n they have 10 rounds to get it right but there's 9 innings in baseball but maybe since it's a hard contact sport yu can't always get around to fight every one especially more than ounce but the best fights n hardest competitors should often fight each other n that's more than ounce... in other sports they face each other multiple xs in regular season n there's normally a series in the playoffs in volleyball 🏐 n tennis they play like 3-5 sets right

THIS IS A RETROSPECT COMMENT. Mikaela Mayer fought the perfect fight, whereas Baumgardner tried counter punching a tall long range puncher and got tagged every time and her punches fell short. She made no adjustments for that. It her thats "Basic" with no ring IQ to change the game plan when it's required to. The fight outcome was a disgrace and those judges are ridiculous. Why is boxing being judged by people have never boxed? I know absolutely nothing about science, so I wouldn't put myself into a position to comment or judge anything scientific. These disgusting decisions are becoming far too frequent, and nobody is ever held accountable. The sport is corrupt. Also Baumgardner has zero class. Her Mayweather-esque narcissism is embarrasing.
