Hello! I think that is a great idea to custimize a mayflash F300, here is why: first of all lets say that you paid 50 dollars for the stick, it is your first stick and you dont know for sure if you are going to like to play fighting games with a stick. For 50 dollars you have an ok quality buttons and lever, compatibility with: ps4, ps3, xbox one, xbox 360 and for sure, PC. If you feel comfortable playing whit a stick and you improved thanks to it, then go ahead and customize it. If you didn't? Well you can resell it for a good price. Lets say that are going to customize it, you gonna pay aprox 25 dollars for a sanwa lever and aprox. 20 dollars for the 8 sanwa buttons at your choice. This price added to the first 50 that you paid for the mayflash itself, goes for 95 dollars. More or less the price you would have paid for a mayflash F300 pro, but fully customized whit your style! And for a decent price you got the chance to test if you like the arcade stick usage! That is why i think that the mayflash F300 its a perfect entry arcade stick. PD: We bought the same sanwa pink buttons xd

This is exactly what I did with the F500. Wasn't sure I wanted to commit to stick or fighting games in general, but as I've fallen in love with both, wear and tear happened pretty fast. So tonight I set it up with an all new stick and buttons for about 80$, and I paid 130 for the stick. Good investment.

I think smaller sticks and cheaper stuff should get love too. Everyone wants the newest fanciest stuff but it's nice to know something like this is all you need. I have a Panthera but I modded an F300 and now that's my main stick! Lightweight, doesn't crush my thighs, easy to carry around and travel with. Easy to unscrew the back and get to the inside and easy to mod everything. Great stick imo not just for beginners and new people but literally anyone who wants a fun little project stick, or something with lighter and/or smaller form factor.

This was my exact way into it. I have a custom built korean lever stick that's way too bulky to comfortably play on for long periods of time. I had an old Hori Tekken 6 stick that I somehow have managed to put authentic Sanwa parts in them. Now I essentially only use the Sanwa stick because of how light it is.

I've bought a Mayflash f300 some time ago to check if I can switch from a pad. I took ma about one month to get used to it and about 3 months to be as good as on a pad. First I replaced the buttons for Sanwa which made a big difference. Then yesterday I installed Sanwa JLF. The stick lever is a bit shorter than the Mayflash one. Quality is better. It's less loose. Movement is easier with it. In genral replacing the buttons makes bigger difference than replacing the stick. Thank you for the tutorial. Your videos helped me with choosing the stick and modding it. If you're having problems with a quarter circle or any circular commands, I highly recommend removing the rectangular inner part of the restrictor gate. I think Sanwa levers come with a rectangular restrictor gate that makes the lever highly favour 4 directions (up, down, left, right). By removing the inner part of the restrictor gate, the lever can move to corners with ease, making it register 8-ways much easier. Before you do this, I highly recommend checking youtube videos about arcade stick restrictor gates. edit: covered by JoyStickNY already in 'Arcade Fight Stick Mod Beginner Guide Sanwa Buttons' video

And it's good to know all the rest, in case I have to replace anything in the future! Of course, I forgot to tighten the ball-top before screwing down the bottom again 🤦♂ But now everything is fixed! It's been a couple months, but be careful about trying this. Traditional Korean levers require a different sized hole than a Japanese lever to be mounted in a stick, as they have a big "collar" that sticks through. In the last few years, Korean levers that can be mounted in a Japanese setup have become more popular, so make sure you're getting the right one for your purposes. Look for something in the description that mentions it being compatible with Japanese mounting solutions, and avoid the ones with a fat collar.
@darenlim15844 жыл бұрын
@@parksonian just two days ago I modded a qanba drone with the Korean lever. I drilled out a bigger 35mm ish hole, had to bend some of the switches pins but got it all in and working. Interesting feel, I kind of like it. DP motion seems more consistent for me, still can't Korean backdash in Tekken , but will keep practicing. I somehow keep sidestepping. I had the high collar one lying around already. If modification on my TES+ or Hrap, I might get the Knee lever.

@JoyStickNY Do you know how the F300 would handle a Seimitsu joystick and buttons? Also thank you for your super helpful advice and videos!
@JoystickNY4 жыл бұрын
Sarah F it should handle similar to a sanwa, but seimitsu has a tighter tension, so if you prefer a less loose stick, you can actually buy a higher tension spring on your sanwa. It comes in 2Lb 3Lb 4LB, so you can get very close to the seimitsu feeling if you already own a sanwa, and seimitsu will be the closeted to korean levers because it has the metal tabs on the switches
@sarahf75244 жыл бұрын
@@JoystickNY After looking at your Sanwa vs Hayabusa Vs Seimitsu video, I became interested in the metal tabs and the possible "directional precisioning" Seimitsu offered. Great guide! The one issue I ran into is that even when I try wiggling the wires on the buttons, they still don't come off. Is there a fix for this?

Carl Hammarström great point, possibly maybe rotating the lever to the other and take rotating the microswitches around? I havent test that out on the seimitsu yet. I mainly use hayabusa and sanwa 🙏❤️🕹 let me open it back up on the weekend to check it out, great observation btw

Could you please elaborate? I'm about to get my first stick for playing Shmups on Switch, so I would love to have a Seimitsu LS-32 and a circle gate. Could I install a Seimitsu LS-32 in this stick or F500 Elite? Are there other options, preferably without soldering? What did you mean by "clearance"?

@MrTripcore4 жыл бұрын
JoyStickNY When you but a Sanwa stick it doesn't come with a restrictor gate?
@JoystickNY4 жыл бұрын
Tripcore it comes with a square gate, which i use square, i have octagon and circle gate at home too. I have too many parts, which i m going to talk about them soon, so many videos to make, so little time 😭
@MrTripcore4 жыл бұрын
JoyStickNY Isn't it preferred to have octagonal for fighters, or is it personal preference? I'm using square, which I believe is Japanese standard for fight games. But I think for the western market they use octagonal for fighters? I know octagonal is preferred for shooters, so I'm guessing octagonal is better, because it covers fighters and shooters.
@JoystickNY4 жыл бұрын
Tripcore u r right, square is standard is Japan, octagon is definitely more beginner friendly. I am too used to square, it feel weird for me to use oct. i dont remember what gate was in the old american arcades, it felt like circular gate to me back then.

I love the clear and informative video, I have this stick and want to make it heavier. What's your advice on a clean and safe way to make this or any stick heavier?
@JoystickNY3 жыл бұрын
You can probably duct tape some metal pieces inside or buy a dumbbell plate and stick it inside, that way, it you travel, you can remove it.
@Gatrax Жыл бұрын
great video, I was able to replace my stick however the connecters are to tightly connected to the buttons, no amount of wiggle or grip will make them budge so my new sanwa buttons cannot be installed. if you have any suggestions for replacement cables I can use and just disconnect them entirely. please let me know
@YennaAvyeon Жыл бұрын
I am having the same issue.
@Gatrax Жыл бұрын
I was able to fix this, I found a reddit thread having the same issue. I did what they suggested and although scary at first, becomes easier the more you do it. Get some needle nose pliers and grab onto the flat part of the connector below the wire. not the base where it's actually connected to the switch. Get a VERY firm grip. pull straight up slowly and slightly wiggle while pulling up, you're going to feel like you're going to break it but it'll be okay.

Sorry about the late reply: glad you found a solution, i usually just slip in some thin metal or use small flat head screw driver
