Very interesting course curriculum and extremely challenging.browns premed is stellar and outstanding. Not all schools provide those classes. Most who study premed go through biology through arts and sciences.

My biggest concern about Brown is the amount of opportunities for research and shadowing available compared to schools like Case Western and Emory that are surrounded by hospitals… I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind speaking on the quantity of opportunities available? Congrats on a great undergrad career and good luck!

Hey! Congrats on med school; I'm an incoming MS1 as well. Wishing the best for both of us! How did you get started with rug making, and what materials do you need to get started?
@MayGao2 жыл бұрын
Hey, congrats! One of my fav questions! I saw a bunch of tiktoks about it and thought it would be a fun hobby. I made my own wooden frame (will link tutorials in another comment) and instead of paying for a very expensive tufting machine I just used a manual punch needle. Materials: wood and stuff to make frame, monk’s cloth, yarn, punch needle kit (Amazon), rug glue or aerosol super glue and felt for the backing

@@MayGao why would want to become a Physician if Physicians are being replaced with mid-level providers and machines.
@kaiung75422 жыл бұрын
@@user-lu6yg3vk9z Because mid-levels are dumb as bricks and will only do the easy stuff. Robots isn't coming anytime soon and when it does your job will be replaced first before a physicians.

Congratulations on getting into medical school! Quick question, I notice that you do study guides before exams. I wanted to ask what tips do you have to make an effective study guide?
@MayGao2 жыл бұрын
1) Use whatever study guide/outline is provided by your professor as a starting point, as these will be the topics directly tested. If not provided, refer to learning objectives or textbook chapter subheadings. 2) Avoid large blocks of text by using hierarchical formatting (highlight, underline, different text size for headings), 3) Make a linkable table of contents, this is easy to do on Google docs or Notion as a built in feature. Makes your notes a lot easier to refer back to. 4) Doesn’t always apply, but build a flashcard deck out of your study guide for active recall. Hope this helps!

@MayGao2 жыл бұрын
I talk about study methods here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHbNlWSvn8-Ae7s Tbh, handwritten notes can be a huge time sink and I tend to avoid them as the years progress. For classes like organic chem, handwriting is necessary to write out mechanisms. For microbio (shown in this video), I mainly just typed notes directly on the PowerPoint slide, used flashcards, and hand wrote ONLY for condensed study guide summaries before exams. Hope this answers your question!

Congrats!! Just wondering if taking a class pass/fail does anything to your GPA?
@MayGao2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. Brown doesn’t calculate a GPA internally so I’d imagine it’s up to your potential employer / grad schools to interpret your transcript. For my AMCAS application, it appears that P/F classes didn’t influence my GPA and was in a separate section titled supplemental hours.
