I’m new here so bare with me pls. Why I see just ONE bass drum? Shouldn’t there be TWO bass drums?
@Flakum4 жыл бұрын
@@peymannorouzi4165 Personal choice. There can be just one, or there can be two. One reason for having just one bass drum for both pedals is that it is easier to mix the sound. And one reason for having two bass drums is that it looks cooler. There are more reasons for both.
@TupDigital3 жыл бұрын
@@peymannorouzi4165 the choice btwn using a double pedal on one bass drum or a single on each of two bass drums is multifaceted- Its an obvious space-saver to have one bass drum (and easier to load), not to mention its the format most new double kick drummers start with. Adding a second bass drum is something i didnt even consider until after 15 yrs of playing a double pedal. The advantage of learning to play two bass drums (i say learning because switching from dbl pedal to two singles was an adjustment for me in multiple ways: sound, feel, setup) is clear if you can afford/have room for it...if youre playing just acoustically or with mics you can tune&dampen two bass drums to sound as close as possible to each other (as opposed to using triggers which can even them out perfectly). A dbl pedal on one BD will always sound and feel uneven- your slave pedal (non dominant foot) beater is always striking off center of the drum head, thus never giving a full sound like the main beater, and this also makes each strike feel different btwn your feet in terms of rebound etc. Two BDs eliminates this, as each pedal strikes true center and can feel equal as well as sound like two bass drums instead of more like one and a half...granted, with triggers to equalize sound and the skill level of Mr. Paradis here, one BD can work wonders! Side note- its def a bit of a "metal thing" to grow your drum kit to great proportions and include lots of voice/sound options, and looking at my kit now, built on a rack surrounding me like im in a tank running on two bass drums...taking one away would just look weird!
@izakeasterbrook189311 ай бұрын
@TupDigital as a drummer, who uses two bass drums opposed to only using one, I have a simple analogy I tell people. Having one bass drum with a double pedal gives the feeling of trying to jump on a trampoline when someone is in the process of jumping beside you. They have taken the energy out of the trampoline and it interrupts your rhythm. Having two bass drum negates this issue

That’s insane respect right there from me cause I’m an ankle only player for now while I improve my swivels. Even then my ankles max out at 240 bpm for a couple of measures. Meanwhile Kevin’s out here holding 250 for extremely long times. I think the only other people that could do it that long on singles alone would be Kollias, Simon Bloodhammer Schilling, Eugene Ryabchenko, David Diepold, Jamie St Merat. There maybe a few more that I’m missing but damn Kevin’s ankle inspires me much like Bloodhammer’s swivel also inspires me lol
