Mayo Business Awards 2022 Entries are now OPEN!!

Westport Town Hall Theatre was the venue for the launch of Mayo Business Awards for 2022.
Keira Keogh was host for the event as she will be for the Awards ceremony which will take place on Friday, April 29th at noon.
An early start as we are privileged to be the first event to begin this year’s celebrations of Mayo Day. The event will be filmed and then broadcast later that evening - full details will be available on local media.
The awards are a collaboration between six Mayo Chambers and the Local Enterprise Office at Mayo County Council.
As Kiera so eloquently said, this year more than ever before we need to applaud and acknowledge the businesses across our county after facing unprecedented challenges in the past 2 years.
This year to allow companies to tell their own story of how they managed during the pandemic we have introduced an award aptly named Resilience and Innovation.
There are six awards for entry - listed below - each business may enter up to two categories.
A special award, the Neil O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented by John Magee of LEO to an individual whose contribution to business life in Mayo is deserving of such an accolade.
AWARD CATEGORIES:
1. Resilience & Innovation
This category aims to recognise businesses that have adapted in the face of challenging circumstances over the last few years and have implemented innovative approaches to business survival & growth.
2. Best Emerging Business / Best Start-up
This award aims to acknowledge new & emerging businesses and entrepreneurs that have the potential to grow successful companies which will be innovative, create employment and maximise opportunities in their marketplace.
3. Responsible Tourism Award
Responsible Tourism is about “making better places for people to live in and better places for people to visit.”
This award acknowledges tourism businesses that takes full account of current and future environmental, social and economic impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and communities.
4. Sustainability Initiative Award
The award is designed to recognise products, processes, or policies that support a greener, more sustainable environment.
Evidence of adapting sustainable business practices within the organisation,
How the practices benefit the local environment and community,
Examples of how the initiatives raises environmental awareness and/or contributes to the achievement of any of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
5. Best Digital Presence
This award acknowledges the increase in businesses utilising an online presence and digital tools to enhance their business offering and drive business revenue.
It focuses on digital purpose, simplicity, usability, functionality, optimisation, impact on the business model and connection with the brand.
6. Accessibility & Inclusion award
This award recognises local businesses that actively promote an accessible environment and inclusivity for employees and customers.
In addition to the above 6 awards that you can enter, the committee will choose a candidate to honour with the following award:
The Neill O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award.
This award aims to recognise people who set up businesses in Mayo that flourished into established employers in the county. It recognises the determination of the owners of such businesses and gives them and their teams the recognition they deserve.
