Dr. Stephanie Nishi, a Researcher from the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario, CA, reviews her article that appeared online early and currently in the September 2021 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings where Dr. Nishi, working with the Toronto Knowledge Synthesis and Clinical Trials Unit and Clinical Nutrition and Risk Factor Modification Centre team, found that the bioaccessibility of energy and fat from the diet as a whole were significantly less with almond consumption. Dr. Nishi translates that eating 1/3 cup of almonds daily could help with reducing 5-6 pounds of weight over a year’s time. She concludes this may have implications for chronic disease and weight management recommendations. Available at: mayocl.in/3irKqg4
