I'm pretty positive Jawster's shiny is based on Terezi from Homestuck. Not only is the artist's name quite similar to the character's, the color schemes are practically identical!

I was thinking- if the Mazah region has it's own gimmick, like Mega Evolution etc..., and its themes are of communication and harmony between species (with the whole hunter and prey aspect) then the Gimmick could be Synchronisation or Fusion: Two Chixulob make a Mega Chixulob, and an Atelangler and a Nanahl make a Mega Atelangler.

I believe Torazi's shiny design is a reference to the scalemate Pyralsprite from Homestuck, my main reason for it is because Torazi is very similar to a character named Terezi who is directly associated with Pyralsprite, who is known for it's signature red eyes and horns (or in the design's case break)

DEAR ARCEUS, I LOVE ALL THESE NEW DESIGNS!! And for whatever reason, I can vividly imagine the cries some of them will make in battle. Wormote would make a bug-like clicking sound that would also vaguely sound like pressing buttons on a remote, and Strelavision would make buzzing that sounds eerily similar to TV static. And then Jawster would just yell/squawk/toot a horn at you all at once to surprise you, then quietly cackle. On the subject of Strelavision, I think it would be cool to have it have a signature move, possibly one that changes type depending on what form it's in, called Shake It. In their swarming TV form, they'd shake their maraca arms and generate a ton of power. (Possibly a base 100 or even 120 special Electric type move that hits everything, but counts as a Sound move). In their regular forms, they'd do a dance, then blast their target with psychic power while they're distracted. (Either a base 85 Psychic attack that always hits, or a base 50 attack that always confuses. I haven't decided which yet, but I like the idea of pun in the name "Shake It", one being literal and the other referring to dancing. Strelavison just looks like they should dance to me. Or do something cartoony when it leaves its Swarming form like spin around or bow. Idk.)

For me personally, this contest caused my drawing abilities to skyrocket, and even though my submissions didn’t win, I’m so happy with what I created and I don’t think I would’ve been able to make my submissions without watching this series for years, and now I know I actually can draw haha. Imagine if, in the actual matzah region game, you could find a gigantic crator with a giant frozen stone chixulob in it. Just as a landscape decoration as the original meteor. Maybe there could be some kind of gym build around it aswell.

You know what might be a fun idea? What if you chose 10 or even 20+ of the other submissions you didn't show us and put them in the game to surprise us. You've revealed basically every Pokémon planned, but it'd be wonderful if there was one or two Pokémon in a few areas we've never seen to give those who play the game that sense of Pokémon wonder. I look forward to playing the game so much though I love your take on the series!

Out of the 10 winners, I think the Lumipop line was my favorite. It's nice to see Poison / Psychic types that aren't regional variants. Also Subjectively, I had something to ask. Do you plan on designing (or at least adding) more Mega Evolutions into the Mazah Region? I only ask because there's only 6 thus far, which isn't much to be honest.

Honestly, out of all of the winners, I'd say the Wormote line is my favorite. I'm not too crazy about Bug-type Pokemon but seeing how the concepts came together to create such an awesome Pokemon line left me very impressed. Congratulations to all of the winners. I don’t usually like designs that lean too heavily into male and female stereotypes, but Strelavision- even though it doesn’t appeal to me directly- is very clever! I think it works in this case since it seems to reference(like you said) that sit com sort of aesthetic, and how men and women typically look in that. Props to the artist!

I was in a rut with my art and was depressed about it and this competition, brought back my mojo so to speak. I just had fun designing a pokemon and seeing others work hard. The love smoggin received was more a victory than winning any competition could be and i know others feel the same. This contest was truly wonderful! Although I’m obviously disappointed my designs didn’t make the cut, seeing the winners really helped with getting ideas on how to improve on the designs to make them more like a Pokémon! As for designs I was hoping to see, I really wanted Earwighoney’s Urdimadek/Loocinta like to get in, as that captured the essence of tradition vs modernism incredibly well. Also really wanted to see Subjectivist Fruit’s Aluminymph line, for the same “incredible tradition vs modernism” reason

Lumiliko's design looks so cool! It also seems to have relation to the Hiliolisk line, which is cool even if it wasn't intended. I love when fakemon look slightly related to each other. Jawster as well works almost looking like a paper like Scrafty. Everyone was so great at doing the Pokémon style and fitting into the Maza region

Subjectively, I have an idea for a cat based Pokemon for modernity. Cat use to be considered pest in Mexico for a while, but now they’re starting to be seen as pets now. Maybe they can take visual inspiration from the Jaguarundi native cats from the Americas that are seen in Mexico. Though it’s just an idea. Love your content.
