Guys, let me tell you with my recent experience, its not that simple to remove the company stock radio. I was doing this project on my 2013 Mazda3 hatchback which had company fitted LCD radio (not Apple Play and BackUp camera though) , thats why trying to upgrade to Eonon. However, I spent 2 hours pulling that damn thing out after un-screwing those 2 philips (Hidden behind AC vents as shown in the video) but the radio wont come out. Luckily I didn't break anything. Next day I called Mazda dealer to see if they have any technical diagram, guess what , they shared a diagram with me and its not just top 2 hinges that need to be unscrewed, there were few more on the sides, for which I believe the access has to be from glove box or somewhere bottom, next day I tried a lot to find those, but still couldn't find. My tech buddy also assisted me in this project and we had to ultimately give up. Just sharing my experience, because if you plan to do the same, do call some Mazda mechanic first to understand how to reach out- to the sides of radio so you can remove it.

I didn't remove the stock radio in this video. Are you commenting on the correct video? Incidentally I didn't have any issue removing my mazda radio.
@ringerthehooper6255Сағат бұрын
@@DIYNorth Yes I agree, you didnt remove the stock radio in this one ....must have seen in a different video where they seamlessly take it out. But trust me it was not a simple job taking it out, and as I mentioned above I couldn't even after many attempts as well . I think the reason being mine is a LCD based upgraded radio and that probably has a complicated setup. I am not finding a way to upload a diagram else would've uploaded here. If you can share me your email, I can send that over to you.

Hows it holding up for you? Would you buy again? Im looking to get one soon. Thanks 👍🏻
@DIYNorth2 ай бұрын
It is still working just fine. I didnt actually buy it the company sent it to me for the video, but yes I think that it's worth buying if you want a back up camera. The only thing I dont like is the setting that adds green yellow and red lines as I find it doesnt line up to where they should be.

Thanks for the video. Question for you. I have the same unit and just installed on my 2012. I ran the two wires to back of head unit (red loose wire and yellow plug in), then ran to trunk all the wires. I capped the solid red wire then hooked up the red/black wire to the same ground you show. I plugged in the camera and the signal I get in reverse is “no signal”. What would cause this?
@DIYNorthАй бұрын
I'm not sure but i would assume it is from the camera not powering on and sending signal to the head unit.

Thanks for the video! You've made my mind to get this exact same HU and BU camera. I'm not that proficient in electronics but may I ask why aren't you using the HU's own GND wire for the camera ground? I think it's labeled "6. GND Wire" in the HU's user manual. Would that work? So basically using only the HU's rear wires 5. and 6.? Thanks!
@DIYNorth6 ай бұрын
I would use the head unit ground, but the cable for the camera only has the ground wire attachment on the camera side.

Great modernization. Does installing these aftermarket electronics impact insurance premiums badly?

Hey mate for the extension, what type of cable did you get, just any 18AWG wire?

Yeah it's pretty basic. Just went to the automotive electrical section and grabbed whatever was on the shelf

Can you see rear view camera with out putting the gear in reverse?
@DIYNorth5 ай бұрын
No. You would have to do some custom wiring. Or get a dash cam with rear view

Can you explain to me why you didn't have to tap into the reverse light for power? I just for the eonon headunit and backup camera for my 2013 mazda3 but thought I would have to figure out how to tap into the reverse light
@DIYNorth6 ай бұрын
Yes, its because the head unit doesn't need an additional power signal to know that the car has been put into reverse. So if you have the eonon headunit without the back up camera installed and the screen goes black when you put the car in reverse that would indicate that the head unit wiring is set up to know that the car is in reverse without any additional input. The camera still needs to be powered to work, but that is what I used the 12 Volt wire on the back of the head unit for. When the car is put in reverse it switches to back up camera mode and send power on that 12 volt power wire on the head unit. It is doing the same thing a reverse bulb would do, but the reverse bulb is cut out of the equation.
@nickicenroad4846 ай бұрын
@@DIYNorth Any chance you can help me with how dim the screen is? I installed the M3BLA12 just fine and the A0125 backup cam. The items work, but during the day it's so hard to see the screen and images, including the backup camera. Brightness says it's 100%
@resmelcatalasan83634 ай бұрын
@@nickicenroad484 You need to go to the app and lower the brightness. There's another video that explains that unless its only for M3BLA12S

Hey mate, trying to do the exact same install but I can’t get any power to the camera it seems. Is the red wire in the head unit the trigger or the power? Not sure if I should connect red at the front or the back or both.
@DIYNorth7 ай бұрын
If you have the exact same head unit the red wire should be the power and there should be no need for the trigger because the head unit knows when the car is in reverse and sends power to that 12 volt wire.

@@DIYNorth or maybe it sends 12 volt power 24\7 ? Could you be losing battery power?

If the eonon stereo will work with your car then yes. If it doesnt work with your car then no. The eonon head stereo is the key element
