Mazda 3 Radio does not work - FIXED in less than five Minutes

The stock radio in my Mazda 3 stopped working yesterday. There was only a quiet crackling sound coming out of the speaker when turning the volume knob. Also the CH changer would not react anymore, so I could not get any of my CDs out. Other than that everything else was acting normal. It was possible to switch between radio stations, even when using the steering wheel controls.
The easy trick to fix this problem is to remove the fuse for the radio for a couple of minutes and then simply plugging it back in. I was waiting for about 3 to 5 minutes before putting the fuse back in. The radio started working right away.
You can find the fuse panel in the leg area on the passenger side. It is hidden behind a plastic panel. Then you can flip the fuse panel down and look for the right fuse. In my case this was fuse number 44, which is a 7.5A fuse.

This method doesn't seem to work for everyone. At any rate it does not seem to work permanently, so you might end up having to replace your radio.

Wow, when we turned the ignition on this morning on our 2010 Mazda 3 we heard a small pop and the speakers were no longer working. I checked all the fuses, removing each one, and they were all fine. When I turned on the radio again, the speakers were working fine. Weird. Thanks for video.

Difficult to say. I replaced my antenna some time back because the bottom portion of the antenna was badly corroded. In that case it did help with getting better reception.

The antenna can be unscrewed from the base. It is really easy do.

Speakers usually don’t have a Separate fuse normally if one or more speakers don’t work chances are the speakers finally wore out and it needs to be replaced

That was the case for my radio. Eventually I had to replace it with an aftermarket radio.

Video is 3:55 minutes long so by the time I watch this, it already took me at least twice as long to fix it, but the last guy took the whole sound system apart & there's nothing wrong with any of the components. So he sold the car to my friend for a few hundred bucks. We'll see if this gets the radio to play long enough for her to sell the car.

Mazda radio has about a thousand functions what you did is equivalent to disconnecting the battery and wiping the units memory

Hello .. I hope you answer my question. I have a mazda 3 2006 BK, recently bought. I burned some mp3 cds and played it in the car. Minute counting starts so it reads it but there is no Audio and track button up and down does not work also. With radio and FM transmitter the audio is ok. Just the cd. The seller said this model only plays original cds not burned ones. Is he right? Doesnt sound reasonable to me. Thank you very much for your answer in advance. Big help for me.

Hi, I think the seller might be right. In 2006 only few car radios supported playing mp3-cds. Did you try burning an audio-cd and playing that in your Mazda?

The fuse was never bad, he just pulled it out to cut the power to reset the headunit memory, which fixed his problem
