Quite like the design. Even though I’m not in the market for a Ute it’s always good to know what’s happening. Also enjoyed the scenery, the lake and country roads, so many spectacular places in our beautiful country.

I closed the deal on one today! Get 2020 plate runout deal and some well researched negotiating. After a very long and happy relationship with my 1998 Holden Jackaroo SE. I had planned to get the Isuzu X-Terrain, but supply for X-Terrain and also LS-U has completely dried up. With the product line in Thailand now closed for 2 months, all new orders will not be deliverable until mid 2021, so I started looking seriously at the Mazda GT. Found that is drove identical to the Isuzu , not surprising, but the styling and finish is far superior. Yes in the X-Terrain you get a lot more bang for your buck , particularly with their lunch special pricing. Things like tub liner, tub roller cover (manual) cup holders at the dash vents for heating & cooling, roof rails, front & rear spoilers, even a pair of winglets on the rear quarters plus LED a taillights. An additional dashboard storage hatch. So if your after a rugged outdoor look and can wait 6months , then yes the DMUX is your baby. On the Mazda side, the leather seats design is superior and more comfortable IMHO, they don’t wrap so tight around you as the side panels are angled wider. This made the feel of the whole cab less closed in and more roomy for me. The heated seats for those down south is a big differentiator, for me in FNQ not so, I would have preferred the Isuzu MUX cooling seating, maybe Mazda might run with those in the next release. Their is also the auto dimming rear vision mirror in the Mazda. Finally the leather padded knee cushions are a great little extra touch. But if your main driving is around town , the Mazda styling did it for me. Elected to not option it up, as I found pricing from external 3rd parties more competitive.

If the brown leather on the top spec model was interchangeable with black, and if it had cooled seats (as well as the heated ones) I’d be all over it. Until then, I’ll give up the heated seats altogether and stick with the D-Max

Only wish Mazda made a wagon version of this to compete with the Everest like Isuzu do with the MU-X. I'm sure there would be a market for them. Any news on when the new MU-X is coming out?

Looks good and smart moving over to Isuzu, could have been better with disc,s at the back giving the D-Max a bit of a punch on the nose! Like the dash and the front, rear a straight D-Max give away giving it a bit of a split personality. Perhaps Mazda wants it to be.
@chasingcars4 жыл бұрын
Given how open Mazda are being about Isuzu doing 100% of the mechanical effort, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't mind the resemblance from some angles.

These types of utes do need disc brakes all round, big turn off for me.
@chasingcars4 жыл бұрын
Same. Why are we still using drum in 2020? And it's far from just being Mazda / Isuzu here.
@sladewilson23794 жыл бұрын
@@chasingcars sure, disks are nice but what's the big advantage? Disks in the REAR don't improve stopping efficiency over drum, rear drums offer a solid reliable hand brake which matters a heap when your loaded & parked on a slope or off roading.
@chasingcars4 жыл бұрын
Interesting fact about hand brake off-road - but disc brakes do have better braking efficacy, even on the rear. They heat up less and repel water, for starters.
@kmuinde4 жыл бұрын
Raptor has disc
@sladewilson23794 жыл бұрын
@@chasingcars Totally agree about disks have better braking efficiency on performance vehicles, however it's very much dependent on the application. On the type of utes we're talking I doubt it make any difference at all. Prove me wrong but there is a lot on info out there that supports my view on this.
@mikeykeyes4 жыл бұрын
Especially higher spec vehicles where Aussies are getting ripped off drum brakes are unacceptable. Wagons have disc for similar price so makes NO sense at all. This is like in the 90s when European cars all had airbags and in Australia they just started with 1 airbag and shave off all other safety items.
