Thanks, yeah found a bunch of water in the pillar still. Been drying her floor today with the fan. She parked on a steep slope during a torrential rain and got an inch of water on the floor. I used a portable carpet cleaner to extract and clean the carpet and mat. Hopefully fully dry by tomorrow. I tested the drain hoses and working fine now. I think there was a spider nest in there or something. I used a #10 wire to unplug the hose followed by compressed air in a can. Thanks for your help!

You know what? I found this video quite informative. I appreciate every second of it, including the difficulties encountered. I am also confident that I’ll recognize when (if ever) I’ll need to gain the extra access you documented so well. Thank you! So, recently, someone shattered the glass of my sunroof and thus, a shop performed the repair. Post repair, I could hear air and noticed water during a car wash. The shop is on the task of correcting the issue, but now I too have some understanding of what goes on up there. If nothing else, I see my future-self ensuring that the trays are occasionally cleaned and that the drains are verified they continue to do their part. Thanks again.

I'm 10 minutes in, and already finding this to be a helpful video. Thanks. This will be saved for future reference (I have a Mazda 3 with sunroof, and also have plans to fit a dash cam at some point, so everything you are doing is useful for me!).

Thank you for the video. My 2016.5 CX5 sunroof leaks under pressure of car wash water jets when they are directly spraying into it near the rear of the sunroof. I couldn't figure out the location of leaks until this weekend. I was wondering how to replace the sunroof seal and I'm glad to come across this video! I was afraid of having to remove the headliner and the entire sunroof assembly so I am glad to see that I can just replace the seal. Looks like a pain to align but better than having to take it all out. Thanks again.

Thank you! Exactly the video I needed. My CX-5 sunroof drain hose had completely disconnected leading to very wet floorboards. Got it all taken apart step-by-step as you described, cleaned out, reattached, and now I just need to order a clip! So, very helpful!

Can you add a link to the clip or what is it called to ask at an auto part shop! Thank you!

It's called an "A" pillar trim clip. Here is the part number for a 2021 CX-5 KB7W68162A. I'm sure you can not get it from a parts store. It's probably a dealer item only.

Hi Micheal, new subscriber love the channel, I"m 70 and retired in 2017 , and bought a 2 yr old 2015 Mazda 6 non turbo and it has been totally trouble free , So I live in So Cal don"t drive it when it rains so the parking brake, and sunroof leaks are not of concern to me , but thanks for the new content, and can"t wait for the next one 😊

Thank you for the informative video. You are the only person who showed how to change this rubber seal on the sunroof. I have a Mazda CX-9 2019 and birds pecked at my rubber seal on the sunroof and large holes formed on it. I have already ordered a new one, but in Ukraine it takes 1 month to arrive.... As soon as the parcel arrives, I will be able to replace it myself thanks to your example. Thank you! And I wish good luck to your KZbin channel and to you personally.

Thanks a million brother. It is possible to get that clip out without cutting it. This video saved me some $$ for sure.

Glad it helped. Yes, you can get that clip out if you are able to twist that tether 90 deg. It will slip out and you can reuse it.

I appreciate this video!!!! I have to replace my sunroof because it’s slightly faulty (it closes but the drivers side is lifted up slightly, letting water in). When it was first happening I couldn’t find a single video to help. This is so nice to know how it all works!!! I might try to replace it all myself + taking off the headliner. Wish me luck 🫣😅

This is how tutorials should be! Get right to the work! Also, some of those airbag panels can be removed without cutting. The end needs to be rotated and it will slide out. Requires strong fingers and determination. Cheers!

@@KWPTheGreat thanks for the comment. You're right about that. It doesn't have to be cut if you can twist the end.

Thx for the thorough video. I fixed the drain tubes. What would you recommend if my manufacturer doesn’t make a replacement seal? I have an Infiniti fx35 and they don’t sell the sunroof seal.
@ShopForemanGarage2 ай бұрын
@Allergic2broke if your seal is still in good condition, I wouldn't worry about it. Put some kind of rubber care on it to keep it in good condition. If you need a new one, I would suggest looking for possible aftermarket. You may need to go to a salvage yard and find a sunroof glass in good condition. In the end, you may have to bite the bullet and buy a new Infiniti sunroof. Remember, they all leak. It's just a matter of keeping it to a minimum.

What supplies do you need for this?
@ShopForemanGarage2 ай бұрын
The only parts you need are the "A" pillar trim clips. Maybe the sunroof seal if you want to replace that.

Is the process the same for replacing the CX-7 Sunroof seal?

As far as I can remember. Yes. It is the same on a CX-7.

what about the rear drains? They are the hard to get to ones
@ShopForemanGarage5 ай бұрын
Yes. If the rear drains are clogged. Then you need to remove the entire headliner to get to those.
@jeffazarva65498 күн бұрын
You can blow air into other end of fear drains in rear wheel well gray plastic hole and use a pen type adjustable to regulate air to blow dirt. Back out at sun roof

Ridiculous advice. Sunroof drains clog often, leading to wet floorboards. You don't need to pull apart panels or remove edge gaskets/weatherstripping.. Just check the corner drains by pouring a bit of water in the channel at the corners. If it doesnt drain right away, its clogged. The simple fix: clear the drain hole entrance. Blow compressed air into the drain hole, or poke a flexible wire or nylon trimmer line into the drain hole/tube to unclog. Done. No need to pull anything apart, risking damage, wasting a lot of time, etc And if the drain hole is clogged, new weatherstripping won't help.
@ShopForemanGarage5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, suggestions, and support. By the way. If you push a clog into a drain tube, it could clog up the drain tube. When you blow compressed air into the drain hole, the back pressure due to the clog in the tube could cause the tube to come off of the drain tray. At this point you think its unclogged, but when water gets passed the seal, and it will get passed the seal, it will drain right out onto the headliner, down the A pillar trim, and onto the floorboard.
@txdbstx89673 ай бұрын
Both comments here are true. It's best to NOT blow air into the drain port but to simply dissolve the dirt that gets trapped in the drain port/tube. Open sunroof, remove the wind deflector then gently spray some foaming bathroom cleaner into the drain opening. Let it sit for a few minutes. It will loosen up and dissolve the dirt in the drain/tube. Then gently spray warm water directly into the area of the drain port to rinse it through. Clean the water tray as shown in this video once you finish. Done.
