This is the concept for the next gen MX-5/Miata. Mazda has a very good reputation for having concept vehicles that become future models, get made into production models. RX-Vision from 2015 is a notable exception which got canned. But almost all of their concept cars have made it more or less, to the production line.
@teunje Жыл бұрын
@@inodesnet This is not related to the next-gen MX-5. It has a fixed roof, it's longer, it's way heavier, and in general it's way more of a 'far-out' concept. The next-gen Miata will still be a traditionally light ICE car and isn't as far out as this study is aiming for.
@flowmastaflam Жыл бұрын
@@inodesnet what releases won't be anything like this. think of the supra concept and what we actually got. nothing alike.
@inodesnet Жыл бұрын
@@flowmastaflam Toyota and Mazda tackle concepts very differently. Mazda is the only mass producing car company that creates clay models up to full size, then scans in the models rather than designing them from drawings into CAD then building full scale mockups. They primarily do their main future models this way through concepts at first. Not all concepts make it all the way through, but look at the concepts for every Mazda models and you'll note there is a strong correlation between concept and production. Nissan often does a similar thing of very close concept to production. Toyota and Honda on the other hand usually don't. Must say though, I have double checked the dimensions and they don't align really with a MX-5. Unless it is MX-5 sized, I have doubts for production mainly because not many mass production car makers have room for two sports cars without collaborations, and Mazda doesn't like collaborations after being restrained by their last partnership. The RX Vision was the car of the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. I was gorgeous but never made production.

I am captivated by the red color. The color appears to go through the car. It's very deep and saturated.
@inodesnet Жыл бұрын
Mazda has a history of excellent reds. The soul crystal red that we see on Mazda's of today was borne out of a hand painted RX Vision from 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Customers requested the colour but Mazda said the hand painted nature of it (non linear, very specific layering) meant it wasn't possible to make available. This was done due to lack of body lines used by all other car makers to break up the body, making painting all that much easier. The solution in the end was that Mazda gets a mockup mody, gets the mockup hand painted while doing motion capture on the human painters. These motions are then programmed back into the paint robots on a per colour, per model basis. This makes for some of the best reds for example, but ask any car repair place which colours are the hardest to repair, and the answer will be Mazda's Soul Crystal Red. It's so hard, it's also one of the few colours that has a LOT of KZbin tutorials for car repair places teach methods for how to repair. (just do a search and you'll see what I mean). So looks great until you crash one. I know mainly because after I had someone hit my CX-8, the car repair place refused to paint it having someone from Mazda come in to do the job.

... Lovely 60s style retro flowing feminine forms!. Also love the modern play on pop-up lights !.(has a air of the Rx7fd about her) (I loved my pop ups, on my aw11!).

Oh my gosh. That is a seriously beautiful car. It doesn't have a bad viewing angle. I'm just working out as to what I'd have to sell in order to buy one.
