Thank you. Have to do mine. My coolant reservoir boiled over and overheated almost to the "H" and I assume its the head/gasket. I already replaced the radiator and the themostat&coolant before this happened. I pulled over to let it cool to normal temp, then I drove home(5 min) and pop the hood, now the reservoir is bone dry. Advice please! 2002 protege 2.0 123,xxx miles. And I always do oil&filter every 2500 miles. K&n filters no fram garbage

When you replaced the radiator and thermostat did you fill in from the radiator cap or only from the resivour

Hey thanks a lot! My head gasket broke a couple of days ago. I stop immediately and got it towed. It blew a hole in the radiator, but I’m hoping there was no damage to the values and cylinders. I was wondering how to check if there was any damage to the values and cylinders?

Can the exhaust manifold simply be unbolted to get the head out, or do you have to remove the turbo And manifold to do this? I have a speed6, and hoping to get the head off without pulling the engine

Can you post torque and sequence diagram for heads and camshaft ....2003 mazda protege ,2.0?

I just had the heads resurfaced, i timed everything before removal.......i got the heads back, so i set the camshafts in on the heads, and the timing marks are good.....do i need to rotate the the cams still? Cause if i go a full roatation its just going to come back into alignment!!

Hey, awesome video. Very explanatory. I have a P5 that smokes on cold cranks in the morning. I’ve been told that it’s most likely the valve seals. Once you remove the head, is that job easy? Can it be done without removing the whole block? I really like the car. If I could save it from the scrap heap, I will lol

If the timing candy gears are 180° out would cause no compression to cylinders

I know this video is old but don't you know about the removal bolt set process. There is a pattern you have to follow not just what ever you feel. Warped cylinder head doing it like that

Is it really necessary remove the cams? I have a mazda 626 98y and its seen u can extract the 10 bolts to access the gasket

From what it looks like you need access to the bolts holding the top of the engine block in place and they're directly underneath the camshafts. It might be possible to remove them without removing the cams but I'm guessing you'd be better off taking them off.

Thank you for this. I'm concerned that I might have a bad head gasket on my Protege so it's good to know how accessible it is. It doesn't look too bad but it looks like you need the means to take the engine block out of the car.
