These videos are still helpful to the RX8 folks. I thought the noise was from my suspension (most of that was going bad too) but the rattle was the damn engine mounts. 04 manual...

Ray. I just want to say thanks for all your videos. I nearly scrapped my RX8 with only 56,000 on the clock. I have systematically changed with your help all these parts. Plugs, Coils, Leads, Cat, Lambda sensors, Cleaned Maf sensor and now going to change engine mounts. The wife took it for a test drive and loves it again. I am going to keep it longer and have a go with your help again in the future. Thanks again People like you make it possible for non mechanics like me.

You make great videos, thanks for sharing all the insight. Question for you: I just bought an 04 Rx8 with only 10k miles. I recently did new plugs, wires, and coil packs. I also added a K&N filter and removed the walls within the airbox. The car pulls very strong, and starts cold and hot no problem everything. My only issue that kinda bothers me is vibration during idle. My idle is steady - maybe once every minute it'll dip like 50rpm but I believe that's normal. Other than that it's constantly right where it should be. What do you think this can be? Some say there is an engine mount closest to the exhaust that typically goes bad, or perhaps it's because I removed the intake walls. Thoughts?

Ray when you get a chance, since your one of the few experts on KZbin with the Rx-8, do you know what my cause rubbing like near the rear tires when turning and accelerating from a stop?(Sounds like the wheel is rubbing against something)

Great video man. What causes the engine mount problem? Is the engine too heavy?

+Mr. Mazda I do not believe the engine to be too heavy. In fact, the engine is surprisingly light weight. The mounts aren't made specifically heavy duty. Add the fact that the engines tend to vibrate normally, and people like to drive these cars like "race cars", and there isn't a dedicated "trans mount" but instead have a solid "powerplant frame" and the engine mounts simply won't last too long. Luckly, they aren't super expensive or difficult to replace.

I took mine to have a MOT and failed due to a osf mount collapsed, when I drive it and brake it makes a catching noise , is this the mount doing this ??

Hi!!! Pls i need your help!! Here there are no good mechanics for this vehicle. and I have 3 weeks trying to find the problem. my mazda rx8 2009 turns on cold, when taking temperature it turns off and does not return to turn on. Now clean all the admission, i change coils, i change oil, measure rotor compression and replace the fuel pump. even so the problem continues. if you can help me I would appreciate it! Thanks!!

I am on my second set of motor mounts. Is it a common issue? 2012 Mazda 2.5l(auto) 76k on it.

+Michael Goldberg After 2010, Mazda mad much fewer problems with their mounts than in the pre-2010 cars. It is unusual for a 2012 car to have multiple failures, especially as an automatic. If your car doesn't have any modifications, I'd suspect something wasn't right about the first set of replacement mounts.
