Dude... That was VERY thorough! I wish I had something like this when I was modifying my 2008 MS3 in 2008-2009... Back then it was a bit more of the "wild west". Thankfully the MS forums (yes... pre-Reddit even) were full of people doing crazy things almost literally after driving them off the lot. I regret selling mine in 2011 so much that I am keeping my eye open for one at the right price. That would be a 100% track/show project. Anyway, thanks for the video.

I picked a 09 MS3 in 2020 for $4k with 180k mi. I have 226k mi now and one of the few issues I've had is a $15 vacuum actuator that took 20 mins to install with only a 10 and 8 MM socket. The only other issues I've had is the A/C compressor ($1500 USD at the dealer), the driver's window motor ($70 and 15 min DIY), and the driver's airbag MIL is on (never fixed it). Crazy part is I'm seeing the Gen1's going for $6k in LA. I was at an auction and someone bought a clapped out MS3 gen 2 for $6k!!

Great video man. Used this video last night to replace all 3 mounts with CS mounts. Now I understand there would be noise and vibration. And you mentioned a break in period, but wow there's alot of shaking going on. A concerning amount.. almost unhappy with it. Have you noticed a change at all. Less noise, rattles and shaking? My 2 buddies and I all think it's crazy how much the car shakes. Thanks again man helpful installation video.
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
Yeea, it is a big difference haha. I think it does break in a little bit and the cold weather also makes things more shaky and rattled. It does make a big difference with preventing wheel hop and torque steer though.
@zachmanigold59072 жыл бұрын
@@kamalakeel yes for sure the winter/cold temps, being brand new all 3 mounts and not worked in contribute to the shaking. I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be that noticable. How do you like it now? Little better and smoother? Thanks again dude.
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
@@zachmanigold5907 Yeea, I installed them at 50,000 miles and I just hit 100,000 last month. So I’ve definitely gotten used to it but I also think the car does seem smoother, the cold weather can still make things rattle though. But I can’t remember the last time I had wheel hop haha. If I spin the wheels when it’s wet/raining or floor it on a not perfect surface the wheels stay more planted to the road. I remember before installing these it would just make that really loud thumping with the wheel hop haha. So they definitely make a difference when driving spirited.

@@kamalakeel haha I don't think I'll be doing any sort of pulls until it's warmer. Feels like the cars going to fall apart. Hopefully it all settles sooner than later as this car is my daily driver. Hi there. Your video was very detailed and helpful. I am in the same situation, tired from the weird gear changes of the factory mounts, especially from 1st to 2nd, but I would really prefer to avoid increasing the harshness and the noise. What you’ll be your suggestion?
@kamalakeel Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I would try just replacing the rear motor mount. The first one I changed in the video that’s under the vehicle. I believe that might help with the shifts with the minimum change in harshness.

love the videos, i recently bought an 09 speed3 with 35k miles and very excited to start working on it :) would a little blue thread locker be ok or would you not recommend it
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that’s pretty low miles for an 09. I just hit 100,000 recently haha. Thread locker would be ok but I’ve had these on for around 50,000 and haven’t had any issues so I would say it’s not completely necessary.

@@kamalakeel oh nice, has the ride changed any after breaking them in some?
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
@@White_cheddar I could tell a difference. Stopped having wheel hop and I could also feel that the engine wasn’t moving around as much, it feels more solid driving around. It still does rattle and whatnot though, I’m just so used to it now. It doesn’t bother much either. Sounds more like a racecar haha.

I am worried about vibration so is the rear mount the best way to test the waters ? You did not specifically mention torque steer. Did it go away with all 3 installed ?
@kamalakeel Жыл бұрын
Yeea, there was much less torque steer. But you’re exactly right, the rear mount is the easiest to change and won’t make it as harsh as doing all 3.

I know it's been about 4 years at this point, but how did these motor mounts hold up? In my desperation for some replacement mounts, I bought these instead of the Damond mounts due to a 3 week wait time.
@kamalakeel6 ай бұрын
110,000 miles and still running these mounts, installed them around 50k I believe. After all this time I’m used to the car with them but they do increase the noise in the cabin quite a bit haha. They’ve been great though, torque steer very much reduced and wheel hop hasn’t been an issue after installing these.

Can I use car ramps to raise the vehicle. every video uses jack stands, but I don't see why ramps won't work. Also is this the same engine as the Mazda 5.
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
The reason I did this on jack stands versus ramps is that with the vehicle on ramps the car is tilted and not level which could cause the motor to shift backwards when removing the motor mounts and causing difficulty installing the new mounts. That’s why having it level on four jack stands is the preferred method.

How's it going man , 2 years later , didn't cause the Sump to leak after jacking it up ? Cheers
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
Nah, have no issues with leaks and still running these same motor mounts. Since I had the jack supporting only the engine and not the whole vehicle you should never have issues with that. If you tried to jack the whole weight of the vehicle from that area you could do some damage though.

@@kamalakeel true allgood just don't like the idea of it thought an engine crane be better to support using factory lifting eyes 👀 , much difference in road noise using the solid motor mounts ? Or not too bad
@kamalakeel2 жыл бұрын
@@jimmy.t5850 Yeea, an engine crane or support bar is a good way to prevent doing it with the jack underneath. It’s definitely more loud with vibrations and whatnot. I don’t mind it and am very used to it at this point but I know some feel it’s too much. I know one guy put his OEM passenger mount back on to help reduce some of the vibrations cause he didn’t like how loud it was for his daily.
