Traditionally in the SRW games, the super robots like Mazinkaiser have the higher power/damage and hp. But the real robots like Gundams and such usually have higher stats in speed/dodging. Of couse if Mazinkaiser does land a hit... the gundams are pretty much goners. So your prediction of their fight is pretty spot on XD

The latest Mazinger movie is sooo good. Model kits from the movie officially announced by Bandai. These shows and mechs are literally the grandfathers of super Robot series like Mobile Suit Gundam we love today.

A little late but I gotta clarify something. Mazinger and Gundam are both mecha but Gundam is NOT a "super robot" show(with the exception of G-Gundam), it's a different subgenre called "real mecha" which focuses on robots that aren't nigh indestructible metal gods.

That ova was pretty cool. I like how they sort of make him a part of the mazinger z story and you also get some great mazinger as well. Some of the seam lines are very noticeable.

I haven't watched the series either, but man this kit is so made to brawl super giant robots! The build type looks like Hulk mode destruction level!! Also the details are so damn cool. And btw nice review and once again awesome ending with those scenario mockups!

Btw after you finish watching the mazinkaiser ova you really should watch the movie because the fight at the end is honestly one of my favorite fights in the mecha genre as a whole

but the Mazinger series has been around since 1972 thus the many sequels, spin-offs, remakes, alternate universes, and reboots, the Mazinger series is the one that started all the piloted mech genre, as the previous giant robot series is either remote controlled robots (Tetsujin 28) or sentient robots (Ambassador Magma).

the original Mazinger-Z and its sequel Great Mazinger both manga and anime is probably dated due to the era they came from unless you are into early 70's retro art and the old cliche superhero archetype in the stories, my recommendation is to start with the more recent releases, one that i picked is the recently released movie Mazinger-Z Infinity, a modern take on the series, the second recommendation is the manga Mazinger Zero, a darker and mature take on the series that has meta jokes poking fun on the franchise itself, plus the awesome robot designs.

So you mentioned a need for glue on the kit, but on scale 1 to 10 how lose are the parts that need glue without the glue?

They are only really loose when you are rough with it. Otherwise it's fine.

Hopefully, Moderoid releases an SKL version. Really weirded out that odd iterations of Mazinkaiser came out before SKL. It seemed like an incentive.

It's pretty great actually. I wish I could give you exact details, but overall it was no hastle handling. Maybe not as sturdy as modern gunpla, but a little better than FAG. Just my opinion though.

I put mine together. While not amazing, I like it. The only thing that falls off is the chest peice. Watch my review of Gipsy Danger from the same company. It just falls apart the whole time.

The only thing that can stand up to a "super robot" is another super robot, so no Mobile Suit t GB is side of the Turn A Gundam has a chance of fighting Mazinkaiser

It's a shame I'm not into this particular series of super robot, local stores are brimming with related merchandise, with SOC,SRC, and model kits. I hope GSC makes TTGL series robots in the future, particularly Tengen Toppa and Super Galaxy.

history lesson, you do realize Go Nagai's Mazinger series started all the piloted giant robot craze you see today right? being one of the original ancestors of mecha anime, Gurren Lagann is inspired by Mazinger but the gimmick is more based on Ken Ishikawa's (a partner of Go Nagai's) Getter Robo with the combining mechs to form a more powerful mech.
