I'm suprised they dont try to grow certain crops in the pockets. It's definitely hot enough to encourage the plants to uptake the excess co2. Hemp would be a great option as they'd be able to process it into so many different products.

@pieznice29 there is a reaction between co2 and pure magnesium, but its still technicallly an oxidisation reaction, the high temperature/energy released can strip the oxygen from the carbon but the magnesium still needs to be burning first to get to the reaction temp >1800C , flares contain other chemicals and they drop the reaction temperature so it would have to rely on the presence of a chemical oxidiser in the flare mixture

@bigdaddybrazil depends on how hard you're breathing... if you empty your lungs out and fill it with CO2 you're SOL. If you're breathing lightly, however you'll get lightheaded and start to pass out, if you do, odds are you're not waking up. If you know what's going on, and you start to feel lightheaded you'll have a few moments to seek higher ground and hopefully some oxygen.

Don't plants also respire requiring oxygen though? How would they do that in the 'mazuku'?
@signalsoldier5 жыл бұрын
The amount of air that would be replinished is very slow... Any air that is converted would immediately be displaced by the more dense C02. It's just not a fast enough process.

Planta require CO2, and PRODUCE oxygen
@przybyla4203 жыл бұрын
It’s only occasional. Plants do need oxygen, for one thing their roots need air present in the soil. Presumably if it lasted weeks or months the plants and soil organisms would use up all the oxygen in that air that’s in the pore spaces.
@nzoomed11 жыл бұрын
how does the flare burn without oxygen???
@MrAsh-hr9mm7 жыл бұрын
nzoomed flares have their own fuel within them they dont need oxygen. Most flares can burn underwater. Flares are useful for safety but are difficult to put out because its hard to smother them

@markjobling7012 жыл бұрын
Plants do not just live off carbon dioxide. They create food from carbon dioxide using photosynthesis, releasing oxygen. They activate and use this food using respiration, which requires oxygen. I this case the oxygen would rise away from the plants above the denser mazuku, so in this scenario, without available oxygen, the plants would suffocate.

@des_sed Жыл бұрын
@@newnamesameperson397 I don't see any part of their comment that is wrong? Plants do respiration and consume oxygen all the time and only do photosynthesis when there is light. The wiki page of Mazuku describes a Mazuku happened in Mammoth Mountain in California that caused deforestation.
