This song has been added to the list of songs that are to be play at my memorial. No funeral gonna be cremated and scattered. Tears in Haevan is another by Eric Clapton And one more. Im 62 now, don't have to much longer to wait. Can't wait to see family and my soul mate kitty Kaici, he's waiting at the Bridge right now, along with several others. Can't wait to see my brother, miss his laugh miss talking to him. I'm the only one left out of the core family. Mom, dad, brother, sister, are all gone. I'm the last one. Sad.....

I lost my father 3 weeks ago. It was unexpected and I hadn't seen him in about 2 months. He didn't take care of himself, almost like he couldn't accept his age. He was still as strong as a bull. This song has a new meaning for me now. RIP Dad.
@C.Fecteau-AU-MJ136 ай бұрын
Lots of people will say they're sorry for your loss, but that's BS and more to the point... Why would they be? They didn't take him from you. I lost my father seven years ago, to be honest I was the only person who wasn't surprised, the man worked himself to death and I tried to reason with him. It crushed my daughter, she was Pa's favourite person in the world and I wish I could have got him to retire. But it is what it is now. People will also tell you it gets easier, but that's also not true, it doesn't. But you will get used to it, I can promise you that and if you can keep that in mind; you'll find out you're way stronger than you thought you were. Good luck, you'll get used to it. Honestly I teared up a little writing that. But I wanted to say something that'll hopefully matter.

*Nostalgia becomes depressing as you grow older and realize just how long ago the nostalgic times were. You love them, and you’ll never forget about them, but perhaps we all look back and admire nostalgia because we all want to go back to those times. Life goes on and time waits for no one, so really, in the long run, all we can really do is live life to the fullest and create new nostalgia to cover the old, but not necessarily forget about it. It’s an endless cycle, I suppose.*

@@flawedperfexion7238 I fully support your belief in Christianity and the Bible, and if that’s what you believe life after death is like, then all the power to you. However, the simple fact is, Christianity is not the only religion. And it’s not the only interpretation of what happens when we pass. Nobody truly knows what may happen, we can only find a belief to follow and hope for the best at the end of the road. For you, may God bless. This is one of my favourite moments of the series, it gives Morty the insight and strength of his "Nobody exist on purpouse" monologue. We all have to bury our corpses in our backyards, we all have to face the reality of our senseless and inminents deaths. That's the only way we can begin to *give* our lives meaning.

There will be a time, hopefully in the not-so-distant future, where your heart has healed from the ache and pain it's going through right now. You will listen to this song again and remember where you were, and how strong you are that you got through the battlefield you once called home. You will look in the mirror and think to yourself: "Here I am. This is me. I am strong".

She brings me comfort for some reason and when gong through a depressive episode, having severe panic attacks, and really shitty anxiety, it really helps. I come back to look at these comments every once in a while to remind myself that I am so proud of myself. That people go through so much worse and I am so thankful that I’m still here, partly because of this song. I love how music can give people comfort in the same sense regardless of what they went through or are going through. Keep going please!

Everything I looked at was familiar, but I felt like I hadn't been here for a hundred years, that it was somehow just a copy of the life I previously had. So strange, but I had that feeling come back during this episode, it was so powerful.

I had this song played at my grandmas funeral. She sufferd from demensia the last years of her life which made saying goodbye very hard. I lost my mother very early to frontal lobe dementia. I watched a vibrant, outgoing, kind, funny and loving person diminish to a vegetable over 8 years, then spend the last 1.5 years of her life in a vegetative state. She was 52 when we realized something was very amiss with her. I turned 54 this year, and while it gives me some solace that I have no symptoms yet, it also illuminates to me how very young she was to begin her slow death. We need human euthanasia for people with diagnosed dementia. Once they get so far gone, it's just hard on everyone left in their life and that can last for years. There was a point when I thought my mother's decline would kill my father who was 10 years older than her. The stress, the constant reminder she's there, but not there. When she died I felt relief and immense guilt, because for several years prior, I had wished for her death to end the suffering of my whole family. She LOVED music, and giving me that same love of music was one of the greatest gifts my mother gave me. She loved nature and always marveled at the moon. I sometimes sit under a full moon and listen to music to honor her. I got her 1972 record player and hundreds of albums from the 1950's, 60's and 70's and even more singles. Her name was Geraldine June. My rescue doggie is named June after my mother.

Her songs are hauntingly beautiful in despair. I listened to the song "Fade Into You" for many years when I was lost. Years later, I paid close attention to those lyrics and the story told in that song could have been about me. The one line in that song hit me hard "I think it's strange you never knew." A time I will never get back. An opportunity for a loving relationship, lost, as I moved on in the shadows from place to place. There is but one positive given to us by Hope Sandoval and Mazzy Starr; in our time of despair and hurt, we are not alone. I see many comments with a similar sadness.

It's currently 3:00 am where I live and I can't sleep because of my full on existencial crisis. And this is the best song that can capture that feeling. I don't know. I guess I needed to share this.

Every so often I need to feel that beautiful pain. I'll listen have a cry and be blown away with how even after so many years this song has not lost its potency. I weep for the modern folk that miss out on true art.

I just realized completely randomly at work -while fetching shopping carts in the parking lot- that this song is about suicide. The name "Look on Down From the Bridge" means the speaker is literally looking off of a bridge from which she's about to jump from. "Look on down from the bridge, There's still fountains down there. Look on down from the bridge, It's still raining, up here." She's saying it looks so much better at the bottom of the bridge (dead) then it does up on the bridge, where it's still raining. (Says some dark things about Morty's state of mind as well if they chose a song about suicide to play whilst he thousand-yard stares into the camera, then cut to black. Damn I love that show.)

HamburgerTime209 I actually think it's about someone who has committed suicide and is waiting for their loved one to do the same. Everybody seems so far away from me...I'm Just gone, just gone Look on down from the bridge I'm still waiting for you

+HamburgerTime209 Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think it's more about somebody that survived the suicide of a loved one. And how they have to face a world that can't understand their pain. They have to say goodbye, like we all do at some point, and they have all these good memories but they just can't be reconciled with the choice that person made. Like maybe it's told from the point of view of person that's trying to put themselves in the shoes of somebody that committed suicide, trying to make sense of it. Maybe pleading with that person to rethink it, even though they're already gone?
