Is that really true about NME? Being the only one to take points away? I’ve always thought NME was among the greatest loopers at the battles because of his refusal to confine himself to the tried and true, and his ability to include such disparate sounds into his music, but I’d that is true I believe my impressions would be more than confirmed.

This has been going on since loop pedals became a thing, beatboxing and instrumental. Take a look at "BOSS Loop Contest 2010 - Ari Herstand - Float On By" (no relation to the Modest Mouse song of the same name, but a nice laid-back track). He was performing during the break while the judges were deliberating. Ari's audience was at St Olaf College, a music school, and he makes good use of that, incorporating audience participation into his loop!

bruh... for these types of competitions, you rarely see something so one sided and Saro had the crowd from the jump and never let them go... While MB14 did crush the toxicity drums, Saro was just flat out better.
