Hi Donna - I'm just wondering if we can ask our professional connections to write letter of support instead of someone from B-School community.

Hi @Suipm7, usually MBA programs want to hear from their alumni base to share that they have worked with you in some capacity and that they know your work and also THE SCHOOL's culture and can speak to how you'd be a good fit for their community. To have someone who is not connected to that business school reach out unsolicited feels more like an additional recommendation letter-- and that's not something that most schools want to do. You can imagine that each school is managing a pool of people on the WL, and if everyone sent in more rec letters it would just clog up the pipeline and add more layers of work. I think the most important thing is to follow the FAQ page and the guidelines that the school sends you in terms of when to update MBA programs with a status update. If you do too much that is not asked for, you run the risk of being seen as annoying and that will not serve your case. I hope this helps-- and I will say that we are entering the time of year where the WL will really heat up and there will be movement. Make sure your top program knows that you'd sign up in a second if you get the call-- (only if true) and make sure they have been updated about any new test scores, extra coursework, promotions and community leadership. That and knowing that you will indeed come if you are accepted is probably the most important thing they need to know. They already think you are acceptable quality for the program or you wouldn't be on the WL, so having another person write an extra recommendation that has not connection to the MBA program doesn't feel like the best approach!
