Only full time work experience after graduation is considered as work experience by top IIMs/B-schools. Profile for top b-schools is your CAT/other entrance score,your marks in class 10,12 and graduation,your graduation stream,gender diversity,your work experience,caste(in IIMs and other government affiliated B-schools).. they consider only these things to give a call to any candidate. So,you can control only two things here : your entrance score and your work experience so focus on them.

It all depends on how well you score in CAT and your interview preparation to justify your gap. If not IIM, there are many other top MBA colleges that you can aim for as well.

Getting work experience is always good, however you have to weigh out all your options and accordingly make the best decision for yourself

Try your level best to get into gud b-schools of tier 1 city, bcoz pre-mba work exp holds 0 value after MBA, If you don't end up getting into IIM/XLRI/JBIMS/FMS next year than probably it's wont be of any use.

@@Siya12592 talk to your professor's from where you've taken cat coaching, don't fall into the trap of giving multiple CAT exam. Just like UPSC exams, MBA exams also end up becoming vicious cycles. Go for any decent college if not IIM's.

As far as i know the required work experience can include full/part time employment, internships, volunteer work and family business/startup experience so i guess the field doesn't matter it's still work experience

hey want some advices graduated last year and gave cat and scored 58%ile so should I give cat this year again or should I clear banking exam and get work ex of around 1.5-2 yrs and then appear for cat? (I'm pretty sure that I can clear bank exam this year and I'm focusing on clerical exam in banking sector)

@@axl0919 I joined an offline coaching centre went to classes for 7-8 months(mostly 80-90% of the syllabus was covered up in that period) then came back to my hometown as my exams were over and later hardly gave 2 months for prep. before exam ( due to some personal stuff). So yeah in a way I wasn't prepared fully.
