It's a rarity that anyone from a tier 2/3/4 engg college ends up in an Ivy League MBA, unless you have an outstanding profile as in killer extra curriculars, killer work exp and a great corporate climb, coupled with a good GMAT/GRE score ( 720+/325+ range) Sorry for bursting anybody's bubble, but these are the stats realistically speaking. For an avg Indian IT professional, easier Ivy Leagues to crack would be Cornell and Columbia and to an extent UCLA.
@varunnair26634 жыл бұрын
Not really, there are quite a few who've been successful in beating the odds. But yes, you need to make up for the fact that you don't have a degree from the biggest brand in your country. As you mentioned, a great test score can help. International experience can help too.
@rizolli-bx9iv4 жыл бұрын
Its not a rarity also who said there are atleast many from non iit institutions in ivy schools like MIT cerniege Mellon etc also people who enter these institutions are not straight who did a degree from iit you must get your facts right if you work in usa for 5 years you will have more knowledge than an fresh iitan no really cares which university you're from

For indians , doing MBA (non stem degree) from any college in US would mean just to pay back the debt you will need to work 2-3 years in some random companies to break even . (Plus the added pressure to secure a job in 1 year ) doing MBA from Harvard with already very crazy profiles to me does not make sense any more , if you are really good in business adminstrtaion before joining , invest that 200k $ and if you are good even basic stock market inventment would give you 20 % returns (forget new ventures / own business / startup etc) Also as a FANG employee myself , I have seen indians with HBS degree joining at a (equivalent)level (so same/similar salary just because they need some big name to apply L1/H1 and then greencard for them) which is something you can get to in like 5-7 years as developer and all these companies allow you to move roles to product managers after sn SDE roles , so for tech background it does not make sense (Hence you see such low FANG applicants these days )

If you want a good score you need to keep throwing your hands everywhere. No wonder many has less GPA due to such system.
