Ékpè gathering outside hall in Bachuo Akagbe, Manyu Division, South West Cameroon

January 2011. An Ékpè mask leads a procession of members including the percussion ensemble through the town. The procession returns and all gather on the lodge patio, while women and children of the community participate by clapping. Whenever a leaf drops from the bunch held in the hand of the mask, a member scoops it up to keep it within the group. The mask repeatedly communicates to the collective through gestures in front of the lodge.
