answer key 1. Question 1: A man invests in an 18 percent stock at 144. What is the interest obtained by him? The nominal value of the stock is 100. The dividend is calculated as 18 percent of the nominal value, which is 18. To calculate the interest yield, divide the dividend by the market price and multiply by 100. That is, (18 divided by 144) multiplied by 100, which equals 12.5 percent. Thus, the interest obtained per share is 18, and the interest yield is 12.5 percent on the investment. 2. Question 2: A invested Rs 4500 in a stock at a 10 percent discount. If the dividend in the stock is 12 percent, what is his income? The market price of the stock is 90 since the nominal value is 100 and the stock is purchased at a 10 percent discount. The number of shares purchased is calculated by dividing the investment by the market price, which is 4500 divided by 90, equaling 50 shares. The dividend per share is 12 percent of the nominal value, which is 12. Thus, the total income is 50 multiplied by 12, which equals 600. 3. Question 3: A invested in a 6 percent stock at a 5 percent premium. If she gets a dividend of Rs 360 at the end of the year, how much did she invest? The market price of the stock is 105 since it is purchased at a 5 percent premium over the nominal value of 100. The dividend per share is 6 percent of the nominal value, which is 6. The number of shares purchased is calculated by dividing the total dividend by the dividend per share, which is 360 divided by 6, equaling 60 shares. The total investment is then calculated by multiplying the number of shares by the market price, which is 60 multiplied by 105, equaling 6300.

@26:07 could you please check the answer is incorrect, it has asked 12% of dividend as dividend should be on the face value how this is calculated on number of shares

He knew the answer, he realised that an extra zero is required in numerator so he added a zero. Actually he should add a zero to 33 making it 330. Then the number of shares will be 54, face value 5400 and then 12% of 5400 would be 648
@eashanjindal3 күн бұрын
Basiclly instead of adding a 0 to numerator, he should have added the 0 to denominator and multiplied the numerator with face value ie 100

Sir, at 9:17, you said the profit is on face value, but then you put it with 105, which is the market value. Shouldn’t it be 12 on 100 instead of 105?

@@viz4799are bro don't take that 12 on 105 in literal sense, it's meaning over there is different, like 12% is calculated on Face Value itself only and FV is 100, so 12% of 100 is 12 which is our profit, and 105 is Market Value, and a person buys any stock at MV only, so from here we are getting a profit of 12rs when the market price is 105, so when profit is 900, what will be the market price, which will be nothing but the money invested.
@anuragsingh553112 күн бұрын
It's no where given that 105 is MP so in tha situation it will be considered as FV. Otherwise they would have mentioned it as in 2024 slot 1 the question itself mentioned the word "premium". So unless mentioned we can't assume @@feroxsin533
