Why? The existence of ghosts neither proves nor disproves the existence of a god or gods. That's just bad logic. First of all you'd have to prove that there is some kind of connection between a dead person and the ghost - it could just be some kind of supernatural phenomenon that has nothing to do with souls (if souls can be said to exist in any meaningful manner). Next you'd have to prove a connection between souls and a possible god having created them - they might exist for some other reason entirely that has nothing to do with gods. Even assuming we've made it over the first hurdle of accepting that ghosts exist, going from that to thinking that the existence of ghosts necessitates the existence of gods requires some impressive mental gymnastics - which is useful training for jumping to conclusions, I suppose.

Kaz I (and most other atheists) generally reject the existence of the soul and the supernatural. As a ghost would be proff of both it would fallow I would have to seriously question my beliefs

Fite-4-Ever there are thousands of different spiritual beliefs. Very few of them involve gods of any kind. Atheism is simply the disbelief in a deity as we know them, not everything supernatural as a whole. I know quite a few atheists that believe in ghosts. "Soul" is just a made up term. Ghosts don't prove the existence of anything else but ghosts.

It's actually kinda wild to me now that no, ive actually never considered ghosts and the christian canon mutually. Like of all the ways ghosts are theoretically real in various shows and books and movies, even when they acknowledge that theres an afterlife the ghosts should be in, ive never actually assumed it was the christian afterlife. Like thats just wild that ive never seen that connection made. But upon thinking about it as an agnostic person ghosts might reaffirm my agnosticism but not convince me of any particular religion. And i don't think the existence of ghosts has to imply an after life at all much less a higher power or what have you
