Welcome back to "Opening My Gold Mine," and we've reached Part 6 of this thrilling series! In this episode, Jason and @mineoperator have their work cut out as they embark on the crucial task of timbering up the raise from the lower haulageway to the upper stope, where the coveted gold vein awaits extraction.
However, before the real work begins, there's a pressing issue - the mine is running low on timber! Join Jason as he takes us through the entire process of timber harvesting, from the moment the tree is felled to skidding it to the landing and then skillfully milling it into dimension lumber. Witness the meticulous craftsmanship required to prepare usable lumber for the mine. More at my other channel: @SJForestProducts
Once equipped with the freshly harvested and milled lumber, the raise project starts to take shape underground. Every piece of this lumber is put to work as Jason, Chad, and Doug labor tirelessly in the dark, wet, and cold conditions beneath the earth's surface. Their mission: to construct a sturdy and secure pathway, spanning over 50 feet, that connects the lower and upper levels of the mine. Safety and reliability are paramount as they inch closer to the highly anticipated drilling and blasting phase.
Stay tuned as we continue this gripping journey towards uncovering the hidden treasures of the gold vein. The excitement is building, and we're getting ever closer to the moment we've all been eagerly awaiting! Subscribe, like, and share to be part of this extraordinary adventure.

I love that you only cut the trees that won't make it any longer. It fills me with a lot of respect. I do something similar with logs I find cut in the woods, I mill them and sell items made from them.

Whenever Fred comes into play, I can't help but get anxious about his verdict of your trees. So far, none of your deliveries have made him happy, BUT, this seems to be the only time we can hear him say "I'm impressed". I think that's a pretty darn big deal coming from Fred 😁 So, shout out to "happy Fred" and his awesome wood processing operation! 😊

Jason, you have actually been up and down ladders that I installed in Jeff William's mine. When he opened the mine, the top three sections of ladder were completely rotten. A bit spooky hanging off a rope while cutting away old deteriorated ladders. Hopefully I will have time off my day job to help him re-collar it. Great fun watching you open your mine!

Jason, I'm sure you've seen the strings of work lights hanging from a single cord. They are now available with LED bulbs so the power draw is far lower than incandescent, the bulbs are more durable because they're made of plastic rather than glass, and the string(s) can be powered off of a solar-powered battery pack stationed at the mine entrance that can be locked up inside the adit when not in use. EcoFlow makes a really nice unit with a foldable solar panel for charging. There's a KZbinr named Erik Grankvist in Sweden who uses an EcoFlow unit at the cabin he's building (MOSTLY WITH HAND TOOLS) in the middle of the forest, and his power pack can run a stick welder.

In our area of germany mining has a looooooog tradition from 500bc and the last mine closes at 1970.... The oldtimers used as thing called as-leather. It was a thick leather sheet hangeng ot the back of the belt and they used it to slide down the shoot by grabing the end of the leather between there legs..... 😁 I think you will need one 🤣

Great video of how it is actually done and it looks very safe. Watching you set a few chokers on those logs brought back memories of the four summers I worked in the woods in N. Calif. When the logs were lying on a mass of limbs we poked the nubbin end under the log first to see if anything buzzed at us before sticking a hand under the log.

This is the spirit of the pioneers. They had faith and hope that moved them forward. It was not about the size of the job. It was about each small step forward. Necessity was the father of learning many skills. It is good to see your example of the pioneering spirit Jason. You are providing a great example of how America was built. You use a well organized approach. You assess, plan, adapt, improvise, and move forward, learning more as needed. Now will "we the people" also find the faith of the pioneers? Like a miners light, faith is needed.

This is a really well done video. Also, very interesting. I've mentioned background lighting options in the past. You did a great job on the lighting given the darkness in the mine. Many times I was impressed with the background being visable but not over powering. One thing I've noticed...is some light you are using creates a obvious and large dark circle wherever you shine it. Maybe the headlamp. Not a huge deal. The whole video is first rate. Thanks Jason.
