Ndombe Opetum on vocals does justice to this composition....so does Michellino on the lead...and one can not just leave out the entire Team!!!

Repose en paix papa Simaro. Comment rester insensible avec de telles mélodies ? Impossible! Tu était unique,incomparable,indestructible. Poète tu méritais cette appellation. Paix éternelle à ton âme "mosimonindo".

This is what I meant in my earlier remark that RHUMBA is appreciated more when voice output is matched by that of the backing instruments i.e.no monotony of the other.

I have a deep feeling Mbongo was composed for live performance. On listening to only the audio version and then in comparison the video clip version, this has reinforced my stand even the more. Just look at Micehlino @4:30 where one has the feeling the guitar is part and parcel of Michelino’s body. I’ve never watched Michelino im such a frenzy before. And soon I will get to a point to declare Michelino the best African guitarist after Dr. Nico.

In my humble opinion, Djo Mpoyi interpreted this song so much more beautifully, embodying the voice of the poor man looking for someone who can show him how to make money.

Hi Abou!! here again after some time. In this clip, after closely watching it, Simaro seems to be playing bass.
Before this show, was there any recorded version? Otherwise I would say that it was worth waiting for Joe-Mpoy to join TPOK to present the song the way he did.
@AboubacarSiddikh8 жыл бұрын
+sulemopepe Sule I think this was 1-2 years before they recorded version with Djo Mpoyi. Perhaps Ndombe just left before they had a chance to record it. Whether that's fortunate or not, remains to be seen, not everybody may agree with you. But count your blessings having both versions.
