I was working as a manager at a Sam Goody music store when a promo copy of this CD was sent to the store a few weeks prior to its' release date. It looked cool, so I threw it on the CD to play throughout the store. Holy shit! My mind was blown! Such a cool, unique sound and Aimee has such a great voice. The CD didn't leave my car's CD player for months after that. It took me a minute to realize that Aimee was also in Human Waste Project who had seen live with Coal Chamber a few years prior to the release of this CD. Pretty cool. The Start should have been huge. To this day I still own all of their CDs.

Nice! I don't have any of their records but back then I was still on a quest to own the entire Bad Religion, NOFX, and Pennywise discography. So I was distracted haha. I think this was five or so years late. Or early, depending on how you look at it. Late 2001 was the beginning of the Nu-Metal/Butt Rock era so they didn't stand a chance against any of that. If this came out in late 2005, however...we would be talking about this band ruling the airwaves, not My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars, or any other emo mall band in 2006. It's the same with the late 90s. Put this band in with all the fantastic chick rock bands that started coming out in 1996-1997 and everyone would add this right to their Veruca Salt and Fiona Apple records, myself included haha.

I miss this band! They were great! I got to see them live several times, always put on a good show. I still have all 3 of their albums and still play them.

Seriously probably in my Top 10 Favorite Songs of All Time! I remember standing outside of the Troubadour telling their manager, “WHY ISN’T THIS SONG JUST MASSIVE?” Good to see it up here - never actually saw the video before! Love Taproot’s original drummer :)

Ever hear of the band Snot? Jamie Miller (guitarist in The Start) was the drummer to that band. They were a killer band! Sadly their lead singer died after a few years of starting the band so they only had one album

I used to follow them to all there shows in LA. I remember when they would invite all the audience up on stage! Such great shows

I love this song. Wish I could find their cover of Cities in Dust still. Surprised the hell out of me that I loved it as much as I did, but I lost it long ago.
