I don’t agree with the EFF in general. However, Dr. Ndlozi not only has exposed the gaps in policing regarding extortionists but also in crime combating in general. The only way to be preventative is crime intelligence. Other prevention issues will never be successful as most of the social issues haven't been addressed. I refer to unemployment, hunger, and lack of basic services to these people in distress. The big question is: will you steal to support your family amid no employment, etc? Then don't blame the police for preventing crime as the causes are social. I am not referring to crime for greed and violence. For specific crimes, you have no choice but to improve crime intelligence and reactive policing. Perhaps the success of arrests and serious judicial response will have preventative values. Sources of intelligence are members of communities and the reward for information. Dr. Ndlozi and Ian Cameron of the portfolio committee on Police will be successful in driving a new perspective on fighting crime and accountability. By the way, Dr Ndlozi, thank you for contributing to real issues and not politics. Crime is not a competitive issue for politicians. Do you need a politician to drive policing as they are governed by our Constitution and related laws? If a politician, then there to change the Constitutional guidelines. Policing is a world science, it doesn’t matter if you are in China, Russia, Africa, or the West. These police officers speak the same language. Most police officers are not political animals. You have a big knowledge base of police scientists in your midst even PHD. I don’t see acknowledgments of these scientists. You will see them in low ranks. It seems our Police are not fond of graduates. Look at when students become graduates and who have no prospects for employment. Use these people and don’t see them as a thread.
