in 86 or 87 kyosho offered a similar design for their 2wd ultima race buggy, joel johnson practiced with it for many races, but did not use it to win his 87 offroad world championship. kyosho offered it with a part # to rc racers threw tower hobbies. it was a smaller diameter 32 metric pitch for 540 can brushed electric motors, you probaly knew that already, but your video reminded me. very nice video. good day.

Like many people here, this is my first time seeing one. I’ll have to try one as well. Thanks for making a well detailed video about it and what it looks like 👍🏻

Awesome breakdown sir. Question: I know this video is a year old but am curious if you still currently run this? I was thinking about buy this tonight. I want to try and make both cars drive as similare as possible. I saw an older video with you talking about not running this anymoer so I was just curious. Awesome content as always. Thank you sir

Very intriguing I didn't know these existed for ebuggy I'll have to get one.

It works really good and makes the transition from nitro to electric easier for me.

Now can the spring rates, can those be changed for the purpose of its release and engagement, was thinking of doing some possible racing. This slip clutch style assembly with properly tuned differentials amazing. And the tekin brushless system which let's you be a mad scientist. Hmmm Mr.Drake you have me a thinking 🤔 and throw in my own understanding of buggy, and truggy dynamics. Only bad part is which platform to run buy brand new, find a new to me and rebuild for the track with the stuff that works. Thank you for the excellent tip and what to consider when thinking of the conversion process. Puts a whole new meaning into holeshot stability off the line, and out of the turn.

Did tekno conversion on mbx 6 with their clutch . maintains front rear break split .. Nitro feel off power ...dived in corners and squatted out . Was nitro driver first so better relation.

Hi Adam, can I fit different springs? (No Tekno?) Model? Thank you

Wow very cool, I bet I'd like driving electric a lot more with this.

Hy Adam! Great video! Please help me. I use the same system in my car. There are a lot of problems with the bearing. It completely fails after about 30-40 minutes. What bearing do you use in the clutch?
@miguelhervas75983 жыл бұрын
Can you tell us the measurements of the clutch with the bell?

Hi Adam, once broken in, how long would a OS engine last you in a race, or is the engine no good at the end
@Jager69693 жыл бұрын
They’ll last you a couple of seasons depending on how often you race
@AdamDrake3 жыл бұрын
If you care for the engines they should last 10-12 gallons.
@richard-sim3 жыл бұрын
What modifications would be needed to the clutch to flip it on the motor shaft, rather than flipping the diff? I see there's a screw securing it to the clutch bell, so clearly the thing isn't hollow. It seems that would be by far the better way to design such a clutch... so any idea why it wasn't done that way in the first place?
@AdamDrake3 жыл бұрын
That would be cool it it was designed that way, but it's too long to fit on the motor shaft if it was flipped. Maybe that could be version 2. Great idea!

Hey Adam, what Gears do you run with this same set up on the MBX8Te Truggy?
@michaelearls95472 жыл бұрын
do you have some videos of test run with the clutch set up
@AdamDrake2 жыл бұрын
No, but pretty much any video of my Eco would be with the electric clutch setup.

Surely this same effect can be achieved by tuning soft start / punch setting on The esc?.
@AdamDrake3 жыл бұрын
You may be able to get close, but I think it would be difficult to get the same feeling as a clutch.
@christyfujii75723 жыл бұрын
How would this compare to adjusting the punch on the esc? I don’t run nitro so don’t need the similarity, but like the concept
@AdamDrake3 жыл бұрын
It may have a similar feeling, but for me I like the true clutch feeling for most outdoor tracks.

You should use a plastic spur.. It won't last a long time and it won't strip and the pinion will last longer
@skaargan3 жыл бұрын
If u use plastic spur with this traktion clutch system, the spur will just melt n destroy in a few laps. Theres a lot of heat generated from that clutch slipping
@AdamDrake3 жыл бұрын
I've only had good luck with the plastic spur when not running the electric clutch.
@clintonchambers19483 жыл бұрын
@@AdamDrake hey Adam, Maybe be another video could be how you install the clutch to the motor. As on a nitro engine the crankshaft has a internal thread where the electric motor doesn't. Cheers for the vids
