Your videos have help me a lot I have the E350, S600 and my wife have the C300 we love the Mercedes Benz. My wife and I would always put our keys in the same cabinet drawer in the kitchen and when we walk into the garage the cars will wake up beep and lights flash even when the keys are in the drawer. The way I fix the issue was separating all the smart keys further away from the garage in different rooms now our cars rest easy

You are right that in MB it disable the keyless go on the remote control to stop talking with the car, but the car is still searching for the key when it is near and on. You can check it if you disable the keyless go with one key, but if you bring from far the second one that is on before you get near the car, when you get close to the car the will open without pressing anything. So you are disabling the remote, but not the car.So if you will park in a big parking lot, the car would still search for an active key near by. It is true that if the only key around is disabled it will not drain the battery, since no other key is around.
@MBZMaster8 ай бұрын
Correct, but the drainage of looking for a key is extremely minimal, comparing to the battery drainage of when the connection with the key is established.
@EitayCohen8 ай бұрын
@MBZMaster Yes, I agree that like I said, if the key is off and there is no key on around it will be OK.

The car battery never died, I never really gave it more than a day off, but I had to replace the key battery with a 12 month period. Might be unconnected but I going to move the keys at nite to the back of the house and use the disable function too. Great tip. Thanks

If you have the same problem as the guy mentioned by Mr. author you can get any small box with the faraday cage in its construction for storing the car key inside during the parking time ... I am going to buy some small pouch/pocket with ring hanging besides the key so you can put it inside. PS: I was facing problem with sleepeing in my ex GLK(btw: very good car!!! Small but very powerful! Baby G :D) during my trips. Car was locking itself after some time so it was screaming and waking me up. I believe it is solvable with mentioned Box/pouch/whatever else ...

This is my first keyless smart car Mazda 6,2017 and I was just leaving the keys in the car because I have a garage attached to the house. My battery is only a year old but my old battery was having this problem too, so like an idiot I bought a new car battery last year when I probably didn't need it. Battery still dies after a few days. After viewing this video I realized that the keyless go for my Navigator are kept in a drawer in the kitchen, about 10 feet from the MB in the garage. I will now move those keys to see if it makes a difference. I'll update you in the future. Thank you.

Since 2019 Mercedes has equipped the Keyless Go controller with a movement sensor. When you lay your controller on a desk, a shelf or into a drawer it will fall asleep. No more checking, no more sending, no more hand-shake. This was done mainly to prevent theft through copying the controller-signal with special devices outside the house near your car while you sleep at home with your keys in the kitchen-drawer. But when he (was it Steve?) opens the drawer frequently to pick up some other items or to lay them back the key will wake up each time. Drawer? Bad idea! Put it on your desktop in your home-office or into a box. I have my controller on a shelf with significant distance to my house-door and even further distance to my car.
@MBZMaster Жыл бұрын
That's true. Latest MB Smart Keys fall asleep if not used, but the problem is they are very sensitive to even slight movements, like wind, drawer movements, floor shaking etc... so I still recommend to keep them at the distance from the car.

Mr. MBS Master: here another one: you can use Faraday cages ( Key Shield Faraday Bag) to protect your key fobs from criminals' signal boosting or copying efforts. Inside a Faraday "bag", the smart keys' radio signals would be blocked from leaving the cage due to the current, and no signal could reach into the "bag" to copy the keys' security codes. This will also solve the problem you presented in the video, with the very witty and great show :))) Good luck using this solution as well!!

@@MBZMaster But this means you need to do this every time you park to minimise battery drainage ALL the the time. Mercedes need to program the car computer to deactivate KeylessGo to prevent the battery draining below a level that is still sufficient to start the car. In winter the computer deactivates the engine heater if the battery is low so there is always enough charge to start the engine. Love your videos🕊

First car with Keyless Go is a GLE450 4Matic 2021. Why is the low frequency signal activated by proximity to the car? Why is it not designed to emit the signal only after a button is pressed?
@MBZMaster2 жыл бұрын
Keyless Go works without pressing buttons on the SmartKey. The car has to make a decision to unlock or keep it locked before you pull the door handle. Also, the car needs to sense the key when the car is off, when it's on, and even while you drive. So communication is not momentary but constant.

Fascinating...and absolutely logical. I never experienced this but should have realized it. We don't keep our keys close to the car but sometimes don't drive a car for days...weeks...sometimes even months (usually winter months). That's when a CTEK battery tender comes in handy. Anyways, a quick question...what if you don't lock the car? My cars are always garaged. Would leaving them locked or unlocked be better when it comes to battery drain? Or would it not make a difference? My first smart key (KEYLESS-GO) was with a W220 S-500 at which time, iirc, it was an option. Since then, it has gone more mainstream and KEYLESS-GO has become, at least with my experience with S-Classes, pretty much standard. That includes my W221s and W222 as well as the W223s and EQS that I test drove last week.
@MBZMaster2 жыл бұрын
Your car is always looking for a key, whether it's locked, unlocked, or even when you start and drive it, your car always communicates with your key. The only way to stop the communication is to double-click on the Smartkey's LOCK button, as I showed in the video. That disables the Keyless Go, until you use it again.

Thanks, great tip. Does it happen with remote car key opener as well? I have honda with a remote key opener, if I press lock once it locks the car, but if I press twice he car not only locks but it beeps as well. Why does that happens? As you said is my car in constant communication with each other ( the key and the battery)although it only opens when I press the open button as it is not a key less entry and I need the key to start the car. By the way mine is a very old Honda accord 2005 top of the line model and I kept it well 310,000km
@MBZMaster3 жыл бұрын
No, your car doesn't have this problem because it doesn't have a Keyless Go feature. So your key doesn't need to communicate with your car from a distance. On Honda, when you press the remote key to lock - it doesn't make any beeps. Many times, you don't want to make beeping noises - especially at night, so you don't wake your neighbors. However, if you want to confirm that everything is locked and alarm is active, then you press lock twice. If you hear a beep - it means everything is OK. So your car gives you an option of quiet lock, or lock with the confirmation beep.

So, you're saying the beeping only happens when you reach 80 mph? Maybe your car is equipped with the Speed Limit Warning. Try to turn it off, or maybe set different speed limit. See if it works.

@@MBZMaster yes my car have cruise control and limit with it as well, but I have checked everything and it was not that as well.
@MBZMaster7 ай бұрын
I'm not talking about cruise control. There's another feature Speed Limit Assist that can be turned off in the Settings.

master: Great video, many thanks! Unrelated question: I drive a S212 when I go golfing. When I sit in the trunk to change my shoes, often the lid closes prematurely, maybe after two minutes, before I'm done. How can I prevent this from happening? Many thanks.

Great job! Love your videos! My question is if my MB car is wasting more batteries if I double click my keyless go key (sleeping) or if I live the car open into the garage? Thanks for your answer!
@MBZMaster2 жыл бұрын
If you double-click the lock button, because it will disable the KeylessGo, so your car will stop looking for a key. Note, it doesn't drain a lot of battery, but it will accumulate the drainage toll over time, or if you don't drive your car every day.

@@Miamiartpop 2020 C-Class has MB Entry instead of Garmin. I wrote an article on my website about 5 years ago here mbzmaster.com/2019-mercedes-c-class-3-navigation-options-pros-and-cons/ . The easiest place to buy it is at any MB dealership, but you may try to find it elsewhere.

I have had a message recently in my Mercedes Me App on my new 2022 GLS450 (October in-service date) indicating "Starter battery partially charged" after only 900 miles on the car. The weather in North Texas had dropped to 20 degrees outside and the car was outside under a carport. The key was in the house 75 feet away. Would double click locking have helped avoid battery drain? Also, why did the Mercedes-Benz dealership charge your friend $150 to diagnose the GLS450, that was draining the battery in your video. It appears to be a 2020 or newer model, and my understanding is the car has a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty. I contacted the dealership, in Dallas, where I purchased the SUV and talked to 2 service department folks and neither could suggest what could be the issue, or what batteries were effected, or how many batteries were in the car, 48v or 12v, or where the batteries were even located. Do you know? I was able to start the car (a couple days later) and drove it for an hour and the partial charge message went away, but I want to avoid the issue in the future. Also, why does Mercedes-Benz not have a better method of "learning" the many setups and features for a new purchaser; such as...an in the dealership, model specific, simulator or a more professional consistant message introduction & training? I actually read the owner manual ( 550 pages) but still had many questions...The salesman is brief and vague, the one concierge too busy, and really feel I am having difficulty finding out information about the expensive car I have purchased. I am tired of being told to just "play around" with the screens and buttons and you'll figure it out. I have talked with other Mercedes-Benz new car owners and they stated the same concerns. Great cars, vague instructions and training.

It doesn't refer to a main battery, rather to AUX "starter battery." partially - means your battery is still ok to start, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I have a 2017 S550 and I’m very disappointed that I have to rely on dubious sources on the internet to learn the many features of the car. Wouldn’t a comprehensive manual be an advantage to MB?
@mkb59842 жыл бұрын
@@howardleopold9887 No, they have too many models for a comprehensive manual.
