The concept of alternating between timbres using an LFO that are separated by an interval can apply to a lot of synths and is a little bit mind blowing.

@@DocBolus please do more MC-101 vids, even if its another pad haha! very enjoyable, plus love people showing off the power of this little gem. Would love to see you do some generative stuff using synths!

@@NeoLudditevisons Will have a go at generative stuff with the synths, but actually the tone tracks are not as well suited to the generative stuff as the rhythm tracks are. If you are interested in generative stuff from the MC-101 check out this channel kzbin.info/door/P0GS976iVD9RwswksqfdHQ Each track is 10+ hours of generative sounds from an MC-101

Yep, got it about a year ago when my Samples was at the Synth Hospital. Really powerful box and there are some cunning little tricks you can pull to get a bit of generative music from it.

Brilliant tutorial! Thank you. With this format could you for example have a bass syth note layer a kick drum?
@DocBolus
@DocBolus 4 ай бұрын
I see no reason why not, they would both be pitched and I don't think you could create an actual kit with this, so it would just be a heavy thumping bass tone.

It’s portable but I sort of wish it had a speaker.. but it’s still my most expensive buy this year and I have no regret( I had 2 litres of cider last night and started resetting stuff etc , I hope factory reset hasn’t changed anything..’ and I’ve a slight misty memory of a nice tune with my tr6s last night … very late night changing notes n stuff .. I can already tell that it’s going to be fairly straightforward but a hell of a lot to remember
@DocBolus
@DocBolus 6 ай бұрын
It's a good box and it is pretty straightforward. It's the machine I dreamed of in the early 2000's when I started messing about with this stuff and the synth engine will play samples too so there is an extra layer of warped mangled insanity available if you want it.

Love your videos, very informative. I'm having a bit of a problem. How do I save my patches once I have dialed in a sound I like?!? And can I name then so I can find them later?
@DocBolus
@DocBolus Жыл бұрын
That's the drawback. You have to save patches as clips which makes it a bit more tricky as you cannot write a line and then flick between your own patches to find one you like. You need to load a stored clip which has the patch sound attached to it and then write the line.
@RosssRoyce
@RosssRoyce 9 ай бұрын
Very clear, thanks!! How do I save the new sound as a preset without saving whole project?
@DocBolus
@DocBolus 9 ай бұрын
You can't save the sound as a preset but you can save the individual clip that you have created the sound on and then reload the clip when you want to use that sound.
@RosssRoyce
@RosssRoyce 9 ай бұрын
@@DocBolus thanks enormously! Can I save just the clip without its whole project? PS your dub vibes vid is amazing, you make the machine sing very organically, I feel many people (even those who actually do write nice melodies) have no concern about frequency blending and balance.
@DocBolus
@DocBolus 9 ай бұрын
@@RosssRoyce yep you can save a clip on it's own. I can't remember right now how to do it but I will try and include the clip saving in my next 101 vid

Hi you can't save the tone but you can save the clip it's loaded into and then recall that clip to load into a new track at a later date.

@@andersbostrom3745 Hold down shift and press the clip button to get to clip edit, then scroll to clip save, change the name and press save by pressing the value dial in. I may try and make a short showing this, but bear with me as my rate of production is almost non existent at the moment.
