If I have my Mc 707 set to change clips after, say, every 4 bars, meaning it won't change to the next clip I selected until it's reached the start of a new 4 bar sequence, will thee external synth also wait to change on the new 4 bar sequence? I'd think yes, but this is the reason I wanna set my gear up using the 707 like this.

Thank you very much for this video. Very helpful! I have just a little issue: I use a TR-8s and would like to change the patterns on it with the clips on the mc-707. In general this works but I have the problem that the pattern on the TR-8s changes directly when I choose another clip on the mc-707. But it should wait till the clip is fully played to stay synchronized. Is there a way to keep it synchronized? So that the midi control is send when the clip changes on the mc-707.

As long as we can map PC messages to the launchpad, it should work. The issue might be that each track is a different midi channel.

But if you change clip without stop the program change is immediate or there is a delay?

It's immediate, of course. The message is sent right when the clip changes. I can not speak for all external devices, but my tests have shown no latency in the sound changing. Sequencing is still in the MC-707, so note data has no lag either.

@@isaacanthonydj4124 you could make the track a drum track and load samples on the pads for live triggering. Then, it wouldn't be a wasted track

hi i tried this on my td3-mo and it doesnt change sequence when i change clips. it stops and starts when i want to, and i have tried multiple values for the program change numbers (while td3 was in play/pitch and write mode). But no luck is it possible with the td3 or did i do something wrong.

Thanks for posting this tutorial! On the MC-707, I have a Clip on Track 2 that I want to send Program Change to the TR-6S. In System Settings, I have Track 2 MIDI Ch set to 10, because on the TR-6S, the Pattern is set to MIDI Ch 10. I made sure Tx MIDI Program Change is set to ON. Then I set the Clip MIDI settings to the desired MIDI Program Change number. On the TR-6S side, I set MIDI: Rx Program Change to ON. After all this work, when I play the Track 2 Clip on the MC-707, neither the pattern nor the kit changes on the TR-6S. What other settings need to be done?

hi there! ...im havin trouble sending program change to tb3. there a 4 banks in this roland mashine and when im tryin to send program change above bank A,the tb3 dont do a change,sticking to bank A patch 26...it should be bank B patch 11 and therefore im sending pc 036,but it sticks on patch A 26... what m i missing? did all your tips... king regards

Hi! I dont think the 707/101 sens LSB and MSB messages, changing banks in external gear. I can try to find a solution to this and report back!

Does anyone able to get iPad AUM to sync with MC707? I managed to get Zenbeats to sync over USB and i can tell that AUM is getting midi messages, i don't understand the settings in their midi menu? Anyone find a vid for AUM and hardware sync?

Each clip in the track will have to be a different patch. Set the sound source to clip in your shift plus track select button menu.

@@gian5902 shift+clip button will give you the edit screen. Cursor over to midi. The PC number is the number you set to match Ableton track PC numbers. Also, go into system settings (shift+knob assign) and cursor to midi. Set RxPChan to ON.

Is the best way to utilize the MC-707 with the TR8-S is to sequence the TR8-S from the MC-707, due to TR8-S sequencer not built for full tracks easily?

I like to do it that way. You also get probability and unquantized sequencing

It's hard to know without knowing what synth and what steps you took. It will play an internal synth sound if you have the track set to an internal sound source. If you set audio insert to your external device, an internal tone will not play.

I got it going after a few try, but I still hear the sound from mc-707 tone , I have novation sl mark3, mc707 , hydrasynth and novation bass station 2

@Djamal Saou keep the volume fader down if you don't want to hear the tone on that track.

@Djamal Saou if you run an instrument into an input on the 707 and select that track as the audio input (shift+sel), no internal tone will play. You can also turn off the tone Oscillator and there will be no sound.

No. Variations cannot be changed via midi, just patterns.

@@UnitE808 ahh ok I guess this is why I write parts for the TR 8s on the mc 707. Have you tried capturing patterns being played on the TR 8s to the mc 707 possibly reserving b-h for this. Would midi doubling be an issue. Anyway thanks for all you do. I took one of your classes a while back with the mindset of using Ableton to control the mc 707 but now some months after that day im exclusively using the mc to control my hardware (modwave,wavestate,tr8s,ju-6a and hopefully soon the se-02 for bass) it's so much more instantaneous,fun and easier to be creative away from the computer for some reason. One last question I have 2 midi splitters coming out of the mc707 with no problems, will one more splitter possibly create some type of midi chatter/ interference. Again thanks for the direction. 👍

@@wynonariders I have captured patterns using the looper track and have also put the recorded patterns on the pads of a drum track on the 707, but I prefer to sequence the 8S with my 707. I like the mute % and unquatized sequencing. I believe the whole appeal of hardware is how fun, instantaneous, and inspiring it can be. I always get stuck choosing vsts and fx when I work in a DAW, and lose my creative fuel. The SE-02 is a beast! It's a Moog for people who can't afford a real one! Lol! If you can get your hands on a SE-02 Ext Box, it unlocks even more power. Those are hard to find now though. A splitter should be fine, but you can also chain the devices and still have control over each. Thank you for the kind words and I think I remember your name in the class.
