I just euthanized my dog after 14 years with him. He was in obvious pain and would sit and wimper. This dog slept on my bed every night, was with me after my heart attack, did daily chores with me for 14 years. He knew what was happening at the end and was licking my hands and face in the waiting room. It was so devastating I don't know that I could do it again. They are better than people.

why people are so selfish??? To kill dogs when they are old? you think its for their betterment? no it's not for their betterment, its for your betterment. for you to live hassle free, since you cant find additional time to take care of your dog when he is old. Have you ever asked him if he wanted to be killed???? Dogs biggest dream and only wish is to live atleast one additional second/minute/hour or a day with their families, DESPITE OF THE PAIN THEY ARE IN.............. you like, throwing a waste shit, you wanted to kill him by injecting venom. its harsh. let him die, naturally. natural death is not killing. Remember, that He was there for you when you needed him and now it is the time when he needs you but you wanna to kill him. huh, justifying as its to ease his pain..... good for you, if you think so.

My parents let me pick out my dog, a golden retriever named Nancy, when I was 7 years old. Here I sit 15 years later as a 22 year old man, crying like a baby, knowing this is the last day I’ll share this Earth with her. I am eternally grateful for any loyal and loving pets. You are a good girl Nancy. Thank you for greeting me every day I came home from school throughout my childhood and teenage years. I will love you my entire life as you loved me throughout your entire life.

oscarcat1231 The modern day bible is one in name only. There have been huge changes in the bible since its translation. The modern day bible does not accurately represent the teachings of Jesus Christ or his apostles. To understand that modern day bible one must understand the original. Few Christians do.

Franco the Hebrew Bible is good to study but so too are modern translations. Jesus Christ died for our sins - we need to repent to be saved - and read His Word/pray & trust in Him for His Truth to be revealed to us
@FJDP924
@FJDP924 6 жыл бұрын
Oscarcat1231 The modern bible is good to read if one has common sense enough to know the difference of what is truly God's word and what is not. There are not groups of little sins that damn a man to hell. Christ did say that the most important commandment is Love thy Neighbor and in fact said that that commandment alone will take a man to eternal life. Any attempt to condemn any group of people or their behavior is totally contrary to what Jesus actually taught. Jesus made it very clear that the Justices were the only laws from the O.T. that should be considered detrimental to the soul of mankind. There are parts of the O.T. and the N.T. that are helpful in leading a good life but if we are talking what a man must do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven it is clear enough because Jesus himself said it. Love your brothers and sisters. Not just some of them, all of them. Not an easy assignment I must say. I do however believe that when we pass we will be met by all our furry friends. Those of us who have been surrounded by them all our lives will be inundated by licks and barks.

I so agree that we should be with our beloved pets until the end. I’ve heard so many stories where pet parents have said that being in the room would have been too hard. Yes, it’s extremely difficult to watch your pet be put to sleep but why put our feelings first? To pass away in the arms of someone you love most is the ultimate comfort. Our beloved pets do deserve that.

Completely agree that it is selfish and wrong to abandon a beloved pet at the very end of its life. Don't know how I will cope but cope I must when the time comes. I must remember that when he sees my face close to his at the vets he becomes calmer. That will be the last gift I can give him.

Being in the same room and seeing my cat die gave me PTSD afterwards and to this day I have intrusive thoughts at random times that I cannot control of the process of my cat dying. I wish I didnt see it because now I'm left with lifelong trauma that effects my everyday life. So no, it's not for everyone and a person is not cruel for not wanting to look at their animal die.

I followed your advice til the end. I was there the first day my dog opened her eyes, and i was there the last day she closed them. 15 years of unconditional love and loyal companionship. The first real health issue was when she was 12. She had an infected uterus, and it had to be removed. After hours of talking to the vet, we decided it was worth trying. As she was still really fit and strong for her age. The operation was a success and she recovered in a couple of weeks. Fast forward 3 years.. In her last year, her health rapidly started to decline. She got mid stage cataract and went about 95% deaf. She was pooping and urinating uncontrollably. Puke and diarrhea everywhere every 2 to 3 days. She was in constant pain because of her old bones. She was rapidly losing weight. She started getting severe heart murmurs. We got a prescription for that, which extended her life for another 2 months. Eventually she could hardly walk for 5 minutes. Eventually she just started to collapse. She started developing a bulge on the side of her head, and got really scary seizures.. Today, we asked our vet for advice and we all came to the agreement that it would be best for the dog to be put down. I dropped to the floor and held her in my arms. The first injection, which was to put her to sleep, was supposed to hurt. She didn't even budge.. I gently scratched her neck and behind her ears.. She just kept looking me in the eyes as she slowly fell asleep. I'll never forget her.. A lot of dog owners claim their dog is really sweet. But mine i can confidently say was one of a kind.. She'd cheer me up if i was down. Even in our final moments together.. She licked my nose one last time before she fell asleep. The second needle came, and she slowly stopped breathing. I was there from the beginning all the way to the end, and wouldn't have it any other way. I'll never forget her. And i'll never be able, or even try to replace her. Rest in peace Blacky..

I've watched a lot of these videos (had to do it just six months ago for a cat of 15 with HCM and am facing again with his lifelong companion), and this is one of the best; he gives excellent guidelines to follow, a personal example, and clearly feels compassion, unlike some vets. I especially like that he says not to feel rushed into the decision. On two occasions, I definitely did (my options as given were leaving them at the clinic in the hospital all alone for treatment that would most likely have been futile, at great emotional cost to them and financial cost to me) or doing the deed then and there; I felt I wasn't given the option of taking my pet home and thinking it over. Very good video.

I would ask the vet what cocktail your dog will be given. Many times, animals appear as though they are experiencing humane euthanasia, but they are simply paralyzed and unable to breath. ALWAYS ASK. Vets still use muscle relaxers which cause animal to stop breathing. Many times, it takes minutes to die. It is agony. Vets will not tell you this. Many times people think their pet is dead, but animal is alive, just cant breath or open eyes.

MartialArtsFan72 That's BS. The vet let us listen for his heart with her a few seconds after he died. He was gone quickly. Veterinarians have NO motive to let animals suffer. I think what you're posting here is cruel and meant to taunt people who came here for help.

That time is coming very soon for my baby. He's twelve and has an enlarged heart, asthma and his kidneys are failing. He's going to the vet soon, and we have to make the decision on whether he should be put down or not. He still has his mind and he can still get around, so its a gray area right now. I just wish he didn't have to go. :( :( :(

My 14 year old crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday with the help of our vet. I see so many other people have come to this video after they did this just as I did. I have cried and cried all night. My dog was falling all over the place, could no longer stand without falling over and would wake up in pee on her dog bed most mornings the last few weeks. I didnt want to let her go! She was still eating and drinking but she had no clue where she was. Everyone says do it for your pet. Why do I feel so wrong?? I am broken into pieces. My dog trusted me and I had to make a choice. Why do I feel wrong for making the choice? I know it was the right thing to do but I am heartbroken and I don't think I could ever do it again. I have cried more in the last 24 hours over my dog than I have over friends and family members that have gone. My sweet Layla was one of the best dogs. I adopted her 12 years ago after some puppy farm used her and dropped her at a pound! I will miss my best friend😢😢

@jimmy jones I am so very sorry for your loss. I know your pain and I know you keep questioning yourself, I did too. It has been 2 years since I posted this and I still miss my girl. I now know I did the right thing and in time you will come to peace with it too. I kept hoping my girl would pass in her sleep at home but she just wouldn't let go and I believe it was because she knew I needed her. She could no longer walk those last 2 weeks and would lay in her pee every morning because she couldn't get up. The way I see it now is that it is our responsibility to show our loyalty back them just as they did for so many years. my loyalty to her was to let her go peacefully with no more pain while I held her as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I truly believe they hold on for us so as much as it hurts, you did the right thing. I wish I could say something to take the pain away, they are family and we hurt just like we would if we lost a human loved one. Again I am so so very sorry.

Uncontrollable bowels, dragging his legs, etc. I knew in my heart it was time but stalled for weeks, dealing with the grief of him being in pain was just unbearable. However last month and this month he can no longer get up, he cannot control his bladder he goes where he lays and I constantly clean him up and move him outside and inside. It's so sad when I was young he loved playing soccer with me. He was like Air Bud, he moved the ball with his paws and head. So athletic. Now I see in his eyes that he can't go anymore. I didn't even realize she was sick until 2 nights before, she was acting lethargic, would barely walk and wouldn't eat. I took her to the vet next morning, he didn't do blood work but instead put her on Clavamox. The next day she got worse, she wouldn't hold her head up, and I kept trying to feed her with a dropper of cat milk and water. I took her to the emergency clinic, blood work showed severe anemia, high kidney values and the biggest thing was feline leukemia, which that really shocked me. I miss her so much. I know you miss your baby too. I will say a prayer for you to feel much better each day. And I pray for myself too cause not seeing her walking around in the house, or jumping up on the couch with me to cuddle and be petted is heartbreaking.

Great little video. I just took our girl down yesterday, It killed me, honest, ripped me and my wife to bits. Yes we stayed till she fell asleep, We love her, and she loved us. All I can say is the pain for us left behind is way more than the pain of those we love, who have gone to heaven. I know she is happy for eternity, and I will see her again one day. For anyone doing the right thing by their best friend, it takes real guts, and strength, to do the kindest honorable thing for you'r animal. It's paying back their love for you in a way that shows, for you to go through with it, when that time comes. God bless the caring owners ..

Wow, that just punched me right in the gut. So true ❤️❤️❤️ this, for multiple pet owners never gets easier. I got to wonder why we keep putting ourselves through it. But I know why... the loyalty and unconditional love is something you don’t find anywhere else but in a great pet. I’m facing this decision again with my 13 year old dog. He’s had diabetes since he was 2 years old. Chronic pancreatitis has left him weak, lethargic and in pain. Chronic muscle wasting has left him too weak to be hisself and I know he’s suffering. Struggling to get his diabetes under control and keep him eating regularly. I don’t want to keep him around for my sake. He deserves a better life. This dog is my heart.... they all are. It’s a road to a decision that never gets easier but I’ve learned that quality of life is what all good pets deserve. Pancreatic inflammation is painful, mostly chronic when they get to this age and no amount of money or treatment will help, it will only prolong the inevitable. Meanwhile your pet feels like shit most of the time. Yeah, my heart is breaking.

@@dawncombs1408 Hi Dawn. May you be blessed in your decision to help your pup cross Rainbow Bridge. I know it sucks. This video really is honest and real as painful as it is. Make a video or take pictures. Spend the full day with him/her. Make a clay imprint of the paw, shave or cut some fur to save. Do everything you need to do to keep your memories. After almost a year now, I am looking for another dog. Grief will soon become joy again. 🐾🐾

Christy what a beautiful thought, you are exactly right. Had to put my best friend of 15 years down two months ago and the heartbreak is still nearly unbearable. I still keep his collar on my bedpost where he and I spent so much time together. Every once in a while I will rub up against it just to hear his tags tinkling like he's still there. It just makes me feel a little closer to him. RIP Teddy...see you soon!

My boxer/Shepherd mix, 11 year old girl has later stage lymphoma. Prednisone helped for two weeks, but her appointment is tomorrow at noon because keeping her alive in her deteriorating condition would be selfish. I just happened upon your video, and you just said everything my head knows but my heart doesn’t want to face. I will keep the appointment because I know she’ll only get worse, and the look in her eyes as she struggles to walk and get up, asking me what’s wrong with her is heartbreaking. Thank you for your reiteration of what I know I have to do. I’ll miss her, but she deserves peace.

I was scheduled to take my dog in for euthanasia two months ago. He is a black lab, retriever mix, who is AT LEAST 15 years old. We got him in 2001. My husband made me cancel the appointment because he was not ready (my husband, not the dog). I can't stand to see my dog in pain every day of his life. He falls all the time, lays around day and night, I think he's blind now, he always has slobber on his face -which he's never had before, and he has lost so much weight, he doesn't resond the way he used to. He quit going on walks a year ago. My husband is hoping he will die on his own, but I know what we need to do. I appreciate the message that we need to consider the dog's life over our own needs to keep him around. I will have to tell the man, "Use your brain, not your heart." :)

When your dog has slobber all over him it is due to the head shaking post or after a grand mal seizure.....after a seizure they have a ton of saliva that is thick and gooey and after a seizure which is difficult to watch let alone keep them safe afterwards they attempt to shake off the dizziness their response is as if they went swimming in water and got water in their ears they cant focus or gain balance they often suffer strokes or vestibular events which make them really unstable they can hardly walk or walk in circles and head tilt or have one eye half closed which is either temporarily or permanently blind. They peepee anywhere are confused or their bedding is soiled and they cannot walk without falling their eyes may go back snd forth rapidly or they lick their blankets or their own teeth and twitch when they sleep they may be.clinging to you want to be near you or right after a grand mal which btw they lose control of bladder and or colon and may pee or poop where they had the seizure and they are restless they will get up right away and not follow commands to lay down or sit due to their dazed condition they only know to leave the position they were in when they half aware knew that something wasnt right. This is followed by them running into doors glass sliding doors coffee tables anything they then fall and despite your best efforts will not stay laying down they think they are fleeing an area that is causing this outside of their own body doing it so they worry about you having it and stay close to you after they get over the running around falling over ...they will be very thirsty very thirsty afterward amd may even try to eat..but they will be very susceptible to another seizure..i use CBD OIL by a place called vet meds.signal hill california they make this pure full spectrum no hallucinogenic no overdose possibility no interaction with any other drugs and no allergic reactions it is hypoallergenic it is just the flowers of the plant so dont think you are drugging your dog it has zero allucinogenic

I watched my grandmother die slowly and painfully. I made a promise when I adopted my dog that I would let her go when her quality of life diminished. I've had her for 9 of the 10 years of her life so I know the changes. Statistically speaking I will outlive her so to keep her alive as long as possible is just inhumae. My boyfriend has a dog that I feel needs to be put down but he thinks it's normal to have aches in pain in old age that he attributes her constant crying (that he admits annoys him) as no big deal. I feel really sorry for her but she's going to be in a lot of pain because he's too selfish to let go (which he also admitted might be a thing).

thank you for this video - it helped me see what I was missing. Lacey (my 14 year old Ruby Cavalier) was an awesome dog/companion/friend and had been struggling with degenerative myelopathy for some time. She could still move around by herself but each day was getting harder and harder. I watched her struggle and since she was ‘my dog’ I kept helping her overcome because God had not yet taken her. Her decline was slow and she still had a lot of energy and life inside her but she could barely stand and toileting was becoming more and more difficult for her. I would have gladly helped her with that but your video helped me look at her though the eyes of what her quality of life was today, knowing that we could do nothing to help her improve. My soul was crushed by what I saw and what I knew I needed to do. I owed it to Lacey to ‘help’ and rather than waiting until she got really bad we decided to put her down yesterday. I’ve always said to myself that I’d rather be a month early with the decision to put her down than an minute to late because that minute of suffering would be agonizing to watch her endure. Thank you for helping me help Lacey. RIP my sweet Brown. I will be forever grateful for you, the time we spent together and the things you taught me about love and companionship. I will love you forever!

You're an amazing person. The loving heart you have for our companions comes through 110% I've had several pets, five dogs for the last several years and have had to make the decision to euthanize more than once. I will never forget when I took my black lab Max, to be euthanized, let me tell you a little about this and why one thing you said matters so very much. Max was with me as a teenager and was my constant companion. It was he and I against the world. I moved from Ohio to Texas, Max came with. When everything went wrong, Max was there to comfort me. But, when Max got old and became incontinent, I decided to have him put down. When I took him to the vet hospital I was taken into a room to say my goodbyes. When the nurse checked in to see if I was ready, I told her I was. She asked if I was going to come along, I declined. It was the worst decision I've ever made in my life. When she led Max out of the room, his tail wagged but he stopped, looked back at me as if to say, aren't you going to come too? I cried and put my head down and the door shut. Max was euthanized and I wasn't there to hold him after all those years he was to comfort me. I'm so sorry Max. I'm crying as I write this because I am now going on 48 and although that was nearly 15 years ago, I know I was in the wrong. I was so selfish to not be there for him. Please, don't make the mistake I did. Be there with you companion when he is euthanized. It's very difficult, but like the doctor says, he deserves at least that much from you. Thanks for reading this long post. Thank you Doctor for such great advise and love you give to our most faithful companions.

Thank you Doctor. I have a 16 year old Lhasa Apso who has been with me every day of her life. This past year and the half she started to lose her vision, and has a difficult time moving. The past six months she started to walk into walls or trapping herself into corners, and is no longer responding to my voice. What makes this decision difficult is when we get ready for bed she still responds to my snuggles 😣 It breaks my heart to lose her, but it really breaks my heart knowing that she’s no longer enjoying her life. Thank you for the video. We had a similar case. We had our 13 year old euthanized at home yesterday. It was a very very hard decision. She was 95lbs and had developed severe arthritis to a point where she couldn’t get up and was soiling on herself. She was walking slow but with medication she was all right but suddenly one day she couldn’t walk or stand no more. We were carrying her out to backyard and back for a few days and yet she would soil herself. The poor soul was actually embarrassed this was happening to her. Till the last minute she enjoyed her food and treats. Except for arthritis all her vitals were very normal. My entire home feels lonely with out her and my nightmare is I have three other dogs 11,9 and 8 and dread this experience. What I found as a life lesson is that losing a pet is incredibly more painful than one realizes. Memories of you pet makes you both happy and sad. It is a unique emotional pain like no other..

This is the second golden we have had to put down, and it does not get any easier. Buck was still very alert and still loved people making over him. Broke our heart when it got to the point he could no longer get up by himself. We had to lift him for a number of weeks until he could no longer stand or walk correctly. We our suppose to get his remains today to come home to his permanent home forever. LOVE YOU BUCK, WILL MISS YOU FOREVER.

She had been foecal and urinary incontinent for some time. Her back legs had been weak for a year, but her front legs began to go as well. Her appetite was still good, and she still wagged her tail, but her eyes told me she was ready. I'm also very glad I was with her to the end. I sat on the floor with her (as did the vet), and she died with her head in my lap, with no fear or anxiety. It is the hardest thing, but watching her continue to suffer would have been worse.

We just lost our other Sr. Female Chi about a month ago to heart failure. Our boy was already in kidney failure and we almost lost him about two months ago. Trying not to lose both so close together was expensive and I think we did it for our sake. He is also suffering from dementia and does about half the things you mentioned. I did this with my cat, I think I got it done at exactly the right time. He had cancer but was on medication. Right up to the evening before the morning he was put to sleep he was active and eating. During the night he suddenly changed. The medication had stopped working and bad things were going on for him. I'd decided when he was diagnosed to allow him to keep going until such a time that he lost decent quality of life. I had a powerful feeling that it was the right time and didn't have any qualms. Of course I would have been ecstatic if he didn't have cancer and was still with me but We've all got a time and that was his time. It would have been harder to see him go on like he'd become than it was to stand there and see him euthanized in front of my eyes. I owed it to him to be there and to have my hand on him right until he'd gone. It was always all about him from start to finish. You should accept that when you take an animal on as a pet. Now I'm sad that he's not here grinning at me from the opposite chair but I don't have any regrets or feelings of guilt which is something I suppose.

Thank you for this compassionate advice to others about their pets. I agree with you. It is a hard decision to make, but I have been with every pet I have had to put down to rest at the end of their life. It is best to be there with them so they feel comfortable. I had a cat that had cancer, a dog with a bowel blockage, another dog with kidney failure, my favorite dog that became so old she struggled to get up and kept losing control of her bladder - these were hard decisions, but I knew their quality of life was at the end and they were in pain. I knew when it was time to say goodbye to my Woofer. I'd known the time was coming for a while, then on 5th November 2014, he came downstairs about 10am, he put his head on my knee, and all the life had gone from his eyes. All the sparkle had gone, they were dull, sad, and sunken. I knew instantly that today was the day. I phoned the vets, made the appointment for 1pm, then called my family to let them know, and invite them to the house to say goodbye if they wanted to. I gave him his favourite breakfast, and at 12:30, the pet ambulance arrived to pick him, and I up. Mum followed us to the vets in a taxi, and at 1pm on the dot he died in my arms. We bought Woofer in 1999 when I was just shy of 8 years old, he was the little brother I'd always wanted. When I got him he was far younger than I was led to believe at just 5 weeks. I stayed up with him every night for a month, and a half to bottle feed him. When I had to put him to sleep, it was the first, and only time i've ever felt grief. I've lost family, and friends, and never felt a thing for them, but when Woofer went, my heart broke.

Thank you for this video and your personal story. I am putting my beloved Lab Tootsie down this afternoon. You helped me feel a little less guilty. She has been soiling in the house for many months, needs help getting up 90 percent of the time, but can walk and wags her tail that has been straight down for about a year. She still begs for food and wants to go in the park for walks, but can't make it too long and walks tripping over herself. I know she is in pain and not doing any of the crazy stuff she used to be able to do....especially knocking over the kitchen garbage can when we forget to put it up. (She used to open the kitchen cabinets to get into it too.) She used to love to jump our 5 foot fence and run around the park playing with the kids and the dogs out there until we grabbed her. Although she learned to listen so well outside she hardly ever needed a leash. She loved the rain and was never afraid of thunder and lightning. She's 14. I will miss her so much........I can't go to work anymore and come home to find her stuck in her own feces and trying to get up. She doesn't deserve it. Now she will be able to follow me everywhere I go and not have to wait at home for me to get back...right? That's what I will believe. God Bless all of our pets and loving owners.

I will miss her dearly.....My heart goes out to any pet owner that has to make this heart wrenching decision. I pray that our furry family waits on the other side for us all. Peace be with you.

This is good and caring advice from a man who obviously loves and understands pets. Thank you. My friend Bruno was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and my heart is completely shattered. I have to do what's best for him, not for me.

My grandpa had to let his dog go a while ago. Her name was Twister. She had tumors on her sides and was pacing around the house aimlessly and my grandpa decided it was the time to euthanize her when she walked out of an open gate in the yard and she didn't know where she was or how to get back home. She lived to around 14, i think. if you ask me for an update I'll ask my grandpa exactly what age. That's really good considering she was a Russell terrier! She was a good dog, the boss of all the other bigger dogs though. My fondest memory of her is the the time my brother's dog ran out of the front door while it was open and ran down the street. Twister ran out right after her and chased her down the street out of view, and when my grandpa hopped in the car to go find them he saw that the dog who escaped was walking back home... with Twister close behind, barking at her all the way and making sure the dog walked all the way back up the stairs into the house.

Great story. Yeah Terriers rule! Had a terrier and cattle dog mix, she was def alpha. She loved rawhides but preferred to get one that one of the other dogs had made more pliable. So what she would do is sound the alarm (bark like they needed to get out in the yard and patrol.) Run outside real quick and then race back in and grab up the chewy rawhide while the other ones were like "uh?..what are we out here for, anything good to see? She did this a lot so we knew it was indeed her special little trick. She was a real character.

Had our beloved pit bull/black lab mix euthanized seven years ago---enlarged heart pressing on esophagus. Loved her dearly, but didn't realize how our spirits were intertwined until she was gone. Miss her everyday since then, but looking forward to reunion at Rainbow Bridge. Have had our new girl for several years---a rescue also, and am glad I learned from my Mollygirl how precious time with them is. Not too far from having to make "the decision" again, but will do so with love and appreciation for the love she also has given me. I am grateful for the good doctor's advice and reassurance. I am crying in advance of losing another special girl, because I know how beyond words I will be missing Riley too. The love and loyalty of a dog is such a gift.

Your personal story really hit me hard because, I’m going through that right now. My first ever dog was clearly sick and struggling to breath so we made the decision to put her to sleep. with my dog now she still eats, drinks, and is still there mentally, still can control her bowels, she just cannot walk well and struggles to get up on her own. We have to carry her outside down the steps to go out and potty. I don’t know why it’s been a harder decision with her but, last night I broke down knowing this isn’t far to her and that the time to let her go is coming soon. I had to put myself out of my shoes and say “if this was someone else’s dog I would be saying this isn’t fair”. So I think my family will be setting that up soon and it breaks my heart but, your advice is great. We have to think about her and what’s best for her ❤️

this is literally me right now. My dog declined pretty badly a few days ago where he couldnt get up at all without my help. hes seemto regained some strength to get up but needs me to constantly watch him and hold him while he pees and poos so he doesnt fall over. he just started trying to eat again but still just lays there all day long. Part of me is making any excuse I can but my gut is saying is time is now. He cant go on his long walks or chase a ball like he loved. but its gonna break me, hes still wagging his tail but he looks so tired

I can tell how much he cares. This video helped me in February of last year. Rest in peace, Odie. He was my best friend from the age of five to twenty. I will always miss him. Best friend I could have ever asked for. I can only hope he felt the same about me. Even in the times when I was maybe grumpy or meaner than I should have been. Or the lazy times I didn’t spend with him when I could have. I love you, Odie. I hope I can see you again some day.

Thank you so much. My furr baby is 21, 17 years with me. Always been healthy but a combination of things, kidneys failing included, he is in need of my decision. Been struggling because all told, he has been healthier than expected but sudden fluid build up and difficulty passing stool isn't ok. I needed the reassurance before taking my furry best friend to the vet today. Taking him alone because my spouse is in denial and I don't want my lil boy to see mum sad. I can't thank you enough for sharing your own story. ❤

Thank you for sharing these clear stages of death. I agree with everything you said and My decision to let Solomon go was the most difficult decision of my life but I know I showed him the respect he always deserved and death with dignity was truly honored. I could not have done this without the support of my dear friends...Solomon was put to sleep on May 11 2015. I can take comfort in knowing i showed him respect and treated him as I would want to be treated... and that i never pulled on his leash while on a walk because he was sniffing too long or I was in a hurry. The day will come that you wish you were holding that and waiting and waiting while they sniff..I still have extreme moments of sadness that i can't hug him

Very helpful video. You must always stay with them when you put them to sleep, because that is when they need you most. It's all about them at that point. Put them first and don't be a coward. You'll be glad you stayed with them.

Carol Jean, your poem touched my heart soooooooooo deeply. Your loss is so profound and you expressed it beautifully. The very last line of the poem brought great tears falling from my eyes - "So rest, my love, and you will see the hardest part of loving you is setting you free." Thank you for that.

My 13 year old cat was found to have cancer (most likely in his back foot bone), and had a huge bulge full of blood. This made it really hard for him to walk, as well as peeing and pooping. This also caused him to loose control over when to pee and poo. We therefore chose to end his life so that he may rest. He didn't react to the needle, he was quiet and most likely understood it was time to say goodbye. I miss him already, and it's only been one day. R.I.P Svartepetter 2001 - 02.03.2015

Thank you so very much for your kind and thoughtful video. Our beloved Molly, a King Charles Spaniel, is only just under 8 years old but has developed cancer in the form of a large throat tumor and small tumors are now showing up all around her body. She also suffers from an enlarged heart. Her appetite is still good but her energy level is very low. She is now unable to put pressure on her front paw, is very thin, and often changing positions to find comfort if not just lying in one place for long stretches. She seems to look to me for help as if she is pleading for me to do something to help her. When she finds it difficult to bend down to reach her food I feed her with my hand. As of yet she can get around (with effort), is continent, but we know the time is coming very soon. You present a very compassionate view and much help with your standards to help make this very difficult decision.

My dog is 16 almost 17 and has several symptoms but I can't say he would rather be resting then here with us. When times are good he's happy bit he often head presses, I've been cleaning up 15 accidents a day for 6 months. Sadly he has lost function in his right front leg so he hobbled on 3 legs. After months of knowing this day is coming, in 12 hours my neighbor who is a vet is coming over to put him down. I'm having a rough time feeling ok with this. My friend who I promised to care for has brought me a lifetime of memories and laughs and love. Tucker I love you and will miss you, I'm sorry...
