Yes totally agree! Once I decided on my test date I told myself that I wasn't going to move it because at that point I had been studying for months, but if I hadn't registered for that date I feel like I would've kept pushing it off. I feel like as long as you give yourself a decent amount of time to study you just need to stick to a plan. Great tips!

Thank you so much for this video! I really needed to hear this. I am preparing to retake my mcat and just took my first practice. I have my mcat in a month and just wanted to say khan academy really does help, especially for the my bio section. When you suggest reviewing your practice test right away or the next day? If so did you make notecards on the subjects you got wrong too, besides reviewing the material? Thank you and great video!

Hey Teza! So for my practice tests, yes... most times, I reviewed them the SAME DAY. It was important for me to review it ASAP before I totally forgot the questions .... because if I waited, I'd have to reread every question and passage to remember why I chose certain answers. That is essentially retaking the test and is too much time! So review it right away. And YES, I did make flashcards for quick, important things that were flashcard-able lol. Like little details to remember or things I kept getting wrong. You got this. Good luck!

If I haven’t taken physics and biochemistry yet, would you still say Khan academy would be comprehensive enough for content review for those subjects? Thank you and great video!

Arqum, I think Khan Academy is comprehensive enough! Of course, if you haven't taken those subjects yet, the concepts may be a little more challenging to grasp. However, you can use Khan Academy as a comprehensive introduction so that when you do take those courses, you are already familiar with the material.

Hi Dr. Carter! So glad I found your channel! Did you mention when you took the MCAT? Do you have any advice for anyone trying to take the MCAT Aug/Sep applying during the same cycle? How did you prepare for sociology section ?

For sociology, I read the Kaplan Review book and made flash cards. Because it is very terminology heavy, it's just a matter of drilling the terms into your mind and doing enough questions to learn how to apply them.

Taya, YEP. I used KA for EVERYTHING, and I used the combo of KA and the books for psych/soc only.

Julia Carter I see, thank you so much for your quick reply! I’m just finding it really difficult to read chapters because I feel like it’s taking too long as I’m a pretty slow reader . Did you find that it was time consuming to take notes along with the videos as well?

Yes, Taya! Content review is sooo time consuming and requires a great deal of focus. Pay greater attention to the content that you really struggle with or find difficult. The rest just review and move on. Just try to get through it as best as you can and prioritize doing questions & taking practice tests.

Summer, I applied to many schools! I forget how many exactly but it was well over 50+ and included most schools on the East Coast and schools in most major cities throughout the Midwest & West Coast.

Julia Carter I’m just curious why did you apply to so many schools? Is it because your stats were borderline or lower or is it because you applied to both DO or MD?:)

I applied to many schools & very broadly because I hadn’t yet got my MCAT score back, and I was unsure how my performance was going to be. Therefore, I wanted to cover all my bases and make sure I didn’t apply to narrowly. Obviously, after I got my score back and started getting an excessive amount of interviews, I realized I could have spared myself a lot of money and hassle by applying more selectively. But you live and you learn! Now I can advise people on what NOT to do 😌😅
