One thing I learned early in life. Some knucklehead I kept beating up kept coming back for more. So much that I ended up breaking my hands on his head. Yes I'm serious. My problem was every time he said "I'm good(as in I'm finished, I'm beaten, etc)" I would stop, thinking it was the honorable thing to do. Sometimes he would get up and try and sneak attack me, sometimes he would just come back in a few hours Long story short, if someone makes you fight, be sure to break them the first time. Waldo shoved his face into sifu and then tried to sneak kick him when sifu showed mercy. He should've gotten worse

I also want to be clear I'm not talking about assaulting people just because I'm angry. I lived in a mutual combat state since I turned 18 so fighting is legal. @@ranchlife8128 Sort of. If I saw a video of my instructor like this, I would drop that school in a heart beat. But sifu wasn't trying to hurt the kid. Unless you learn some form of jiu-jitsu, you don't know how to restrain a aggressor without hurting him. Sifu was right to use open palm, as stupid as it looked. At least he had the presence of mind not to seriously lay into the kid in a way that would cause serious bodily injury. True, he threw him into some junk, but that was reckless, if anything, not with intent to cause serious bodily injury. Most martial arts teach how to defend by causing damage to the aggressor. That problem is exactly what this video highlights. No one wants to punch their drunk uncle Larry at a wedding, but most martial arts don't teach how to handle this kind of situation. Most martial arts teach how to handle a stranger in the street, but not this gray area where you need to defend yourself without causing serious damage. I don't know what sifu would look like against a stranger, because that wasn't in the video. Only thing we saw was sifu defending against an immature aggressor, but in a way that he wasn't prepared for: without causing serious damage.

@@Nepthu How so? He didn't do exact wing chun techniques but he beat the guy pretty good. He did exactly what he needed to do.

When you were looking for a name for the kid who got whooped, I was thinking "please say Waldo, please say Waldo", and when you did, I burst out laughing. Every time you called him Waldo was hilarious. Seriously though, this could have ended pretty badly, both gentlemen need to keep their anger and most importantly their egos in check.

I’ve tried to find it again without success but I read “Sifu’s” account of events leading up to the brawl. I think it was on Facebook. If memory serves, he explained that he was teaching a wing chun class and one of his students invited a friend who was a JKD practitioner (“Waldo”). Waldo was disrespectful throughout the lesson, basically trying to take over the class pointing out everything he thought Sifu was doing wrong and how “In JKD, we do it this way” kinda stuff. After telling Sifu that whatever technique he was teaching would leave his groin open, Sifu invited him to come up and demonstrate/explain it, and Waldo suggested he put on a cup as if he was planning to really hit him in the nuts. Tension was already high and the thought by at least one class member was that this could turn into a fight and that’s why he started recording, and that’s when the video starts. Sifu explained he was not proud of his actions and acknowledged he could have handled it in a much different way, but it sounded like Waldo had pushed a lot of his buttons leading up to it. For my own part, I don’t condone Sifu’s actions, I think Waldo needed to get fought another kind of lesson. You don’t come into someone’s dojo (and their home too apparently) and disrespect them like that.

Neither had much applied technique so the better conditioned and probably more tested guy won. You could look at them side by side and take a good guess how it was gonna end up

I'm not exactly sure how but 'drop your dillmans' sounds oddly inappropriate. Lol. Banger of a breakdown my friend. Really appreciate it!

The rematch of these two should be on the undercard of the next old athlete vs Paul brother fight.

I agree with what you said. It's more difficult to keep my cool in situations like those. I still got work to do with anger issues. 50% of the time I'm calm cool n collective but 50% something clicks and even though I know what I should do, I tend to react to the moment. Definitely Enjoy this channel! Its Awesome! Great breakdowns and commentary lol, that guys running a backyard Dojo/Daddy Daycare.

Being a veteran of foreign war, I can relate. Breath brother, just breath, go into the situation never taking anything personal. I've been working on this for years and it's tough. I've been in trouble on jobs because of my issues and I still have to work on it.

It's pretty weird to read the comments saying that it's douchey to want to spar someone if you're mad at each other. Coming from a boxing gym, that's just...how it works? Lol

In addition to everything you talked about, Rob, another thing about this video that makes my teeth itch is how Waldo kept running his mouth after getting his ass thoroughly and completely destroyed by Sifu. I guess maybe he thought he was trying to save face or something but it’s like, “dude, come on. You don’t have any face left *to* save. 😂”
