Man needs to get some tools for his giys though. They will all not be able to move in the next 10 years. They make brake drum dollys and tire carts to remove and install those tires. We use them everywhere in the shop and they save on your back. Your body will thank you in the long run

Started out working on big rigs back in the mid '80's. Waste Management 7+ years, Pepsi 1 yr. in 1990 went into the auto field @ a Ford dealer first, always was a heavy line tech. Certified Cummins engine tech, the only "schooling" I had.....Took US Navy as vab tests @ 17 told I had a very high mechanical aptitude, duhhhh dad was mechanic, learned some from him at young age. Engines were my specialty i both industries, but was a bumper to bumper tech. All learnt by hands on, not out of books or schools lol. Nothing I can't fix really , after almost 45 years as a mechanic. Became a trucker my last 3 years until I retired @ 62 and moved to SE Asia.... Guys is smart, thru my experience, you get more work out of motivated mechanics and if you take care of them, they will take care of you. You get what you pay for in life

Truck mechanic needs $20,000.00 to 75,000.00 in tools and equipment to just start. Goes up from there, if you're a shop owner you will be going over 100,000.00 really quick. Higher expense depending on the capabilities of the shop. I have 50 years in industry.

What are you clowns on??? I've been doing this for decades and still don't have $20,000 tools. I can do anything on our fleet trucks. We run Michigan gravel trains. 11 axles, up to 169,000 lbs legally. These things get abused. The guys we've had that brought their monster boxes on a rollback are no longer here. It must've been that big to hold their ego. No need to have all those specialty Snap On tools. It talent and skills and hard work, not fancy tools. I also co-owned a car repair shop in my 20s and we started out with only $17,500. We had everything we needed and then some! You guys are high.

I have a possible win win between this businessman and his parts suppler. Things like filters and seals that he used more often that he gets a min/max stocking in his garage that the parts dealer maintains. Not a big savings but ensures that he has a relationship with the supplier and it is an incremental savings to both. Instead of ordering filters as needed he takes off the shelf and the supplier delivers cases instead of individuals. May work with wipers etc that are repeatable consumables. Small savings big picture, picking up pennies! Love this guys business and attitude!!!!

For some, even alot of people, school is a waste of time. But you dont normally get the opportunity to grow up with an entire running working business to just slide into. Your most likely going to need your high school GED or diploma to get into a job before you can get anywhere in life. I'm a truck driver; and i can tell you right now that he hit the 2 most important things on the head that help improve your experience as a driver. He always need a place to park, especially with trailer, and we want to get in and out as fast as possible. I know this is a desire for most shops, in general, but with trucking the wait can be multiple days for some of the most basic stuff.

There are 2 kinds of people in this world positive and negative and in order to be a successful business man or women you need to be smart, motivated and have vision. You also need to take chances and roll the dice and be smart about it. Never choose a business where the customers have no money, I was told by a successful business man one time you need to follow the money. I can honestly say I am not that person, I am negative and always look at the bad side of things, although I will work my ass off, I am a workaholic. My father and mother on the other hand were positive people and were successful, they loaned money against the house to get started something I would never do. I am lucky that they set me up in a successful business it has had its ups and downs but I love it.

Truck drivers 🚚 are very well paid, treated with lots of respect. I would certainly not want to work in a private or public nursing home as a nursing technician.I inspect or observe the resident estate with my smartphone I noticed that many patients admitted there have not washed or brush their teeth for 2 weeks due to budget restrictions from the federal government Justice system in Quebec makes my me very angry 😠 😡 annoyed. Many patients have Alzeimers disease and Type 2 diabetes. We dont ask questions very noticeably. I would rather work in a fruit and vegetable supermarket being on social welfare jobs. You are very lucky privileged to have a great paying job 👍.

That was the key 🔑 your dad had the business. Look lets be honest, in America most businesses that are successful are ones where it was passed on or money 💰 or some kind of assets were passed on to the next generation. Most people starting from the ground with nothing needing expensive loans are not successful. Plus your not successful now with debt. This really is the majority in America now. Years ago it was so much more feasible. But the prices and the difficulties now are so stacked against you, your business literally needs to be successful from the get go. Which doesn't happen with most. It is not a dream anymore. But you will never know unless you try. Just be prepared to lose it all.

The man wasn’t handed a large, busy, service shop with tons of income already. That would be a different story. It was just his dad running a little operation until he started helping at 15. To start from zero in that line of work doesn’t cost a ton of money either. Of course it makes it easier than building from absolutely nothing but that doesn’t take from the fact it took a lot of hard work and determination to grow to where he is now. People act like getting any sort of help to get a business going somehow devalues their success.

Idk if his true profit is as high as he claims, but he didn't start from zero. Having a business already establish even if it wasnt that great is a massive difference from starting out knowing zero people in the workd. Regardless if i were him id save every penny cause ev trucks are coming very very soon and they will all have long warranties so obly work he will have is trailers mainly meaning most likely he'll go out of business. Trucking has really gone to hеІІ in the last 15-20 years. There are so many regulations its not worth it. One more thing I should add is he is all about speed. Being slow isnt good but rushing jobs isnt great either. All it takes is one little slip up and if a truck he serviced took someone's life from a malfunction itll go back to him and he'll lose everything and face possible jail time.

On the last point, I don’t believe it’s as big of a potential problem as you may think, with the way he does it. It’s not one guy rushing to get everything done, but rather a crew where each person has their own task to focus on. Overall the service gets done quickly as multiple tasks can be done simultaneously. Much like a nascar pit crew, each person does only one task so they are very good and consistent with it, minimizing errors. If all you do is brake jobs, you’d be pretty good at it.

I believe they just set the new emission standards for 2027 making it basically impossible for them to keep making diesels. Trucking is going to be changing big time in the next few years not to mention they got self driving ones in progress. People say it can't be done but they also said planes could never fly. It will happen

@@ВадимЛод I’m familiar with the importance of consistently correct work, repairing commercial aircraft for a living. Mistakes happen and things are missed in my industry too, that’s the human factor. His method would actually reduce the chance of human error compared to the way most shops do it with one or two people doing many tasks. I agree adapting to industries transition to EV will be a challenge and not every business will survive but it’s not impossible. It all depends on how he handles it. If they don’t outright ban existing diesel trucks in the US then there will still be many on the road for a while yet requiring service.
