These young people think, after the Civil Rights Movement, that was it. I grew up in the 70s when white teachers didn't teach black history and we didn't have a Martin Luther King holiday. School was pure Hell! Especially on a black kid. The little boys was treated worst. These white men were nothing but Klansmen. It makes me so upset when, I hear black people not helping one another and harming one another.

They filed a civil suit to the tune of $25 million against the county, but settled out of court for 1.1million. The family's legal team received $483,000, His mother received $67,500 and children over 200k

@@timothythornton6624For the crimes they were convicted of, yes. They were found not guilty for manslaughter, tampering with evidence, and I think second degree murder. This is 100% manslaughter and tampering with evidence. They lied on the initial police report, and ran over the motorcycle with a squad car to make it look like an accident to hide the fact that they ripped him off his motorcycle and began beating him merciless. The officers literally admitted to this. McDuffie broke the law and evaded police but after he yelled I give up and stopped his motorcycle, he was ripped off his bike and bum rushed by 6 to 8 officers with nightsticks and flashlights. They were guilty.

In 1981 Dade County settled a civil lawsuit filed by McDuffie's family for $1.1 million. The 1980 Miami riots were the deadliest since the 1960s and remained such until the 1992 Los Angeles riots twelve years later.
