You don’t see the glaring irony in your statement? McEroe is pretty much the personification of entitlement and arrogance. When you go to watch a sports event, I don’t think it’s outrageous to expect the players not to verbally harass you lol You need to rethink your comment.

@@Neldot I'm not even saying that woman wasn't being annoying, but frankly it's not her responsibility to be 'sportsmanlike' because... she's not a sportsman lol The onus of professionalism is on professional athletes. Hence the title, I suppose. Look, I'll put it this way: I just watched a documentary on Jackie Robinson who endured years of death threats against his family, players who would intentionally try to injure him, and unrelenting verbal abuse from fans and opposing teams and not once did he even yell back at them or even complain. Funniest part to me is, there's no way anybody can tell from this video whether that particular lady was the one who yelled (I can't even tell when the yell in question took place, tbh)... for all we know he came over and yelled at her and she didn't do it. I mean, if she yelled while he was concentrating on playing the ball, how could he possibly know it was her, and not some other lady three chairs over and a row behind or whatever? How could he have seen her yell while playing the ball, when she is literally behind him, the opposite direction he would be looking while playing??
@NondescriptMammal2 жыл бұрын
In fact, going back and looking at it, it actually looks like McEnroe yelled at a totally different lady, who then reacts with her friends.... and the so-called "Karen" the camera man chose to zoom in on had nothing to do with it, other than to vehemently dislike McEnroe for being a big baby throwing a tantrum at the fans... she certainly said something to him while he yelled at the other lady
@adrianjenkins58772 жыл бұрын
@@NondescriptMammal I mean, which of the following is most pathetic? 1) "Karen" in the stands yelling at an inappropriate time? 2) McEnroe calling out this (perceived) "Karen" in the middle of a match? 3) Alphas on KZbin calling out this "Karen" more than 30 years later? I loved John McEnroe back in the day (and enjoy his commentary to this very day), but let's not pretend that he wasn't a bit...mercurial.

@@adrianjenkins5877 I would go with 3, followed by 2, and then 1... @@_1ben It's hard to explain and by "G.O.A.T." I more accurately meant my favorite player of all time. If I wanted to spend the energy and time I could write a ton on why I feel this way. But I don't wanna spend the time & energy LOL. So, briefly... His "style," for lack of a better term, was more akin to art than any other player that I've spent time watching. I know that sounds kinda pretentious and/or silly, but I feel that way. Close to magic. He truly seemed to be in the moment and was able to pull off points/shots that seemed unimaginably creative. Kinda like he's the Larry Bird of tennis. And his methods were a very unique mix of power, aggression, and the most unexpected delicate touch. And while everyone is aware of his temper, it was also equally obvious how much he respected and loved the game. Also, post playing, he's the greatest commentator the game has ever had. There's a lot more to say, but we'll leave it there :)
