I think you went pretty generous on this set. I really like Spawn character and its design but I feel like McFarlane has the potential to deliver better figures and it looks like if they were restraining themselves from doing something better and just saving the good stuff for later.

McFarlane has been doing figures for nearly three decades. I get that he hasn’t been doing highly articulated figures until more recently but the sculpt and much more noticeably the paint and details have suffered immensely. They have done a few figures like the Violator that show that they are capable of doing a detailed figure with articulation but 99% of the time they release some truly awkward looking figures. The spawn figures do look a bit better but a lot of the DC stuff ends up looking pretty bad. I do think that their price point somewhat justifies the lack of detail and good proportions but now even they are raising their prices.

Spawn suit (and cape) always moves on it's own, as it's basically the same as symbiote, so the assymetrical cape-chain kinda make sense? Idk. Nice pack but I already customize my throne & MK spawn and that batman is so so. Better to wait for Gray version of Knightfall Bat for a proper crossover.

This is the worst Batman figure they've released imo. It's just a lazy bunch of re use with no heart. His glove spines are coming outve his arm lol They packaged him with those terrible hush hands and gave him the BTAS batarang. I can't believe Anthony likes this turd.

There's a comic where Batman and spawn fought and spawn was definitely bigger, but not that much. Wish they made a just the spawn on its on.

while it wouldn't have made a massive difference this batman should have reused the knightfall, it would have been enough to make spawn a little taller and at the very least batman would pose a bit better

I'm sick and tired of that Hush body buck, the release would have benefitted from the speeding bullets body instead. Spawn is good enough IMO, just remove the funny boot and apply red paint to the body

If you hit those green Spawn eyes with a UV flashlight, they'll glow (not in the dark) pretty good! Any time you see that green color on a McFarlane figure, same thing!

Spawn doesn't have official height, in the comic crossover they seem like the same height with Batman, in Soulcalibur he's height is listed as 6'2" same height as Batman The 6'11 is the height of Spawn in his animated series based on it's character sheet

Could you please do a video on how ( based on your personal experience) on how Mcfarlane makes $$$ on these. Most of his figures are about the same size as Marvels BAF , besides the DC license potentially being cheaper than Disney. How ....does...he...make....$$$...?

I think this set looks spot on to the artwork of Greg Capullo’s Batman and spawn artwork (the one with clown and the joker in the background). The figures don’t match the McFarlane and Miller artwork, but looks exactly like Capullo’s artwork. I think the set looks perfect and it’s a must have for me even though I have almost all the Batman and spawns McFarlane has made 😂

Spawn is 6’11, for this scale, he is quite short when compared to Batman. Then again, all McFarlane DC Multiverse figures are not well scaled. I guess Spawn could work with your 6 inch or 1/12 display.

Even though I already have this spawn cuz it that deluxe spawn the one that came with the throne I would still like to get this variant I love the sword and cape that this one comes with, they really pull the spawn look together (I mean honestly that deluxe throne spawns half Cape really bothered me).

Now if only we could get an animated movie base on this crossover comic if they could adapt the Batman and TMNT crossover comic into an animated film then they could definitely do the same for the Batman/Spawn crossover comic and since that McFarlane is good friends with DC and Warner Brothers it could happen

The logos on the bases are so indicative of their parent companies - DC quiet, subtle and disappointing while McFarlane is loud, obnoxious and overconfident.

I'm not impressed with either. Not trash, but I don't like either. They aren't based on the comics at all. I thought the people had spoken on weird face sculpts? Most don't like the side eye. Most didn't like the Hush Batman with the open mouth. I do kinda dig the rest of the head sculpt though. Also, on this body buck for Batman? Why not just put a darker grey and blue paint on the Knightfall Batman body? Then just paint the red on the Spawn body call it a day. That I would buy.

Hey, It's Lock Jaw Batman! Can they please stop using this ugly head sculpt? Going have to disagree on the face. Wow, they brought back the batarang that is in the size of a phonebook, yet they have smaller ones which they could have used. Easy pass.

Great and honest review as always, Anthony! To me this is "the missed opportunity set", good figures but for McFarlane not giving us them with the costumes from the comic book despite having them on the cards and the backdrop is just laughable. The set would be a real killer if Spawn had his classic costume.

@@mrzeromafia Not exactly. In the modern crossover Batman doesn't have the spikes on his shoulders, that's from the very first crossover from the 90s drawn by McFarlane himself. So this set is a weird mixture, but still a missed opportunity, in my opinion only of course.

@@logank6732 I think this is based on artwork by Greg Capullo & Mcfarlane, where Batman/Spawn face each other with joker & violator on the background. Batman has the exact same screaming face + cape spike + bat-ears & Spawn is in his modern costume. Anyway, THAT should've been the artwork included in the package.

I think you nailed it about everything regarding this set. So I think I'll pick it up later down the line when it hits 30 bucks. Otherwise, the Spawn is the nicest and I definitely wish they went with a different body for the Batman figure to use. Batman definitely needed better accessories as well.

Did you get really bad stress marks on the socket on Spawns shoulders as well? My arms were on the loose side so i pulled the arms off and noticed really bad stress marks on the socket thag the shoulders plug into. I ordered a replacement and same issue. Just wondering if i have extremely bad luck or its a common issue.

It's very much a "If you missed them" two pack. It's not horrible but if you've picked up their older counterparts not much new here. What grinds me is the artwork. They keep using artwork that simply doesn't match the figure and I don't understand why. Clearly they got the okay for the design, how do they not have the okay for the artwork? There's a Fabok cover that has the designs of these figures. Or why aren't they doing a figure based on artwork they can use? That's really weird branding and luckily Mcfarlane didn't go windowless boxes because then it would be some serious false advertising. My other gripe is they pick artwork showing dynamic poses the figures can't do. You'd think that would be the goal and a better way to address making the sculpt "move". Again not a bad set but I see a dissonance between the packaging and the figures like there are two teams not talking to the other.

The artwork is from the 90s comics which these figures are supposed to 'commemorate' I think. I do understand they re-using parts but at the very least try to match the art. Like change Batman's painting and different right foot/hand on Spawn (plus red paint) Anyway I do like them but not for what it was supposed to be. I rather buy older figures and display them together if I'd want to 'celebrate' the comics encounter...

Scaling was something I just was thinking about yesterday while I was looking at my mcfarlane dc collection, at beginning I didn't put to much attention to, but now that I have many figurea from different characters its kinda troublesome because most of them have the same height. For example, the target exclusive flash is huge compared to other figures from dc.

Yeah, Spawn is definitely around 7 feet tall so he's way undersized next to this Batman. McFarlane's Spawn figures are probably closer to 6.5 in scale honestly

I love the 2 figures of Batman and Spawn and the packaged box in both figures looks great and I hope that Todd McFarlane will repeat that mold of the Batman figure again so that in the future he will release the 2 Spider-Man 🕷️🔵🔴 and ⚫⚪🦇Batman one of my favorite crossovers and 2 of my favorite heroes both Marvel and Dc

They both have a cool shelf presence, especially Spawn. However, I just don’t get why McFarlane goes for this flat, soft look for a lot of their superhero figures. It really throws off the look, which is why it’s hard for me for get into collecting them. The Knightfall could have better pronounced muscles, but at least his arm muscles are sculpted and he has sculpted knee caps. Mcfarlane does a lot of interesting things/

Really like this body for Bats and love the dark grey. Thinking abut grabbing him for a custom...I'd change the belt to a pouch belt and give him a cloth cape. Maybe do a head swap as well or trim some of his chin lol.

it's always pretty perplexing to me, that, spawn, being McFarlane's own creation and property, doesn't seem to be getting the attention and care that you would think he deserves. and yes, the idea that Batman is the same size or larger than spawn has always been kind of weird to me as well, although I think if we look at the official height on spawn biography, he's only like 6 foot or 6 foot two? I just now asked ChatGPT AI how tall is spawn and it says he's is typically 6',2" tall.
