Instead of showing some respect to this great player, you are criticizing his English. I don't care what languages he can speak as long as he plays good. Beckham never learned Spanish and he played a few years for Real Madrid, so why do you care so much about Silva's English? Go and learn Spanish instead if you think it's easy to learn a foreign language.

Wow Cuchillos HIlls, why don't you learn to type in proper English before you criticise others for choosing not to learn it, which by the way is completely up to him. It's not a requirement to learn English if you play for an English team, and he actually can speak the language very well. I serve his box at the etihad stadium sometimes and he is always very kind and pleasant and speaks English around me. Anyway he's very deserving of that award and is doing fantastic things for the club, I will always support David Silva :)

Again, as you can see - he understands some of the questions without being translated. His best friends in the club are Hart and Johnson and both have stated he does know his fair share of English. Hes just more confident in interviews doing Spanish, how would you feel being interviewed in a language you're learning with the risk of anything being turned against you by the press... Also tons of English players have gone to leagues and not learned the language (Like Beckham)
