thank you thank you thank you, I'm so excited to be coming to McGill this fall and Douglas is such a dream for me, there are not many pics or vids online so I really had to dig deep but this made everything so clear and simple while still being fun and entertaining. I didn't know it was possible but I'm even more excited for fall now than before! Thanks again for making this.

Thank you for bring back old memories at Douglas almost 40 years ago. My floor at H house is male only.....no gender issue for the washroom.

Heyo! I'm mulling over whether a single or double room is better. Are the doubles cramped? I'm hoping to fit a keyboard and maybe a coffee machine in there. Thanks for the video :)

Great video! Would Douglas be a good choice for an engineering student? I would love access to a piano

Heck yeah, I was there in 2019-2020 and I think the student population was a little bit more skewed towards science/eng students compared to upper res. The piano was absolutely a highlight, I definitely made a lot of friends by dancing & singing along to the music :)

Thank you so much for making this, it is so helpful. I was offered a scholarship so I think I will be putting Douglas as my first choice residence. I just had some questions so I don’t make decision based off of what I’ve read on reddit... : 1.I read that rooms can be dark in Douglas, is it true? 2.Where do the students at Douglas mostly come from? I’m Korean so I’d like to live in a Rez where there’s at least some international students so I don’t feel left out haha 3. Do people at Douglas and Upper Rez (bc of proximity) party together or do ppl at Douglas usually hang out just by themselves? I know these are random maybe dumb questions but it would help me a lot in deciding if Douglas is really the residence I want to live in...thanks in advance!

Hi! Thank you for your nice words. :) 1. Rooms can definitely be dark. There's no "lights" on the ceiling, each room comes with 2 lamps - a tiny one on the bedside, and one bigger lamp which does a pretty good job of lighting up the room. You can also buy your own lightbulbs at a dollar store here if you don't like the brightness/color. Overall, it's definitely negligible. 2. This is an answer that may vary year by year, but most of the time I'd say it's very diverse. In my house alone, we're all from different cities across the world. There will always be many international students - no need to worry. :) 3. This is a personal preference! Most of us have friends both in and out of Douglas. It's really up to the person if they want to go to upper rez pre's, or invite their upper rez friends into Douglas, orrrr just stay in Douglas all the time. Unlike some of the other rezes, you don't need to sign in your friends at a reception desk, so it's pretty free-for-all. I hope this helped! Feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Hey welcome to McGill, glad you're choosing Douglas! Most of the rooms in Douglas are well-lit with large windows, only about five of them have small windows (in the basement). Douglas, like the rest of rez, has a lot of Americans and Canadians from outside of Quebec. There are also a lot of students from countries outside of North America like France, the UK, China, India, etc. As for partying, Doug kids often party together (I mean, we live in the same building), but many people, myself included, have friends in other residences that they go out with. If you're in Douglas, you definitely have the option to expand your social life into the rest of upper rez. Partying at McGill usully consists of pregaming in residence and then going to bars and clubs on Boulevard Saint Laurent, so you'll see everyone there regardless. Hope that answers your questions, and put douglas first!

Hi! I was recently admitted to McGill and I am really thinking about choosing Douglas as my top choice. However, I have a worry. Is it true that bathrooms are mixed-gender? I am not sure I will feel very comfortable sharing bathrooms with my male classmates hehe I will really appreciate if you could answer :)
@NotFireDaFlint2 жыл бұрын
they are mixed gender but it's not terrible depending on which house ur in! sometimes ur just sharing with 3-4 other people, sometimes it's 12, sometimes it's all for yourself (there's only like 2 washrooms like this lol). at the end of the day, you can always walk to another washroom if you prefer one over another. super open residence

@@NotFireDaFlint Was looking through the replies and this is actually ideal for me bc I'm nonbinary, leaning pretty hard towards Douglas for the fall 👀

Omg I love the decorations! Do you get to choose which house you're in?
@NotFireDaFlint4 жыл бұрын
Hi Leonie! Unfortunately, you don't get to choose the house you're in. It's completely randomized - you'll find out which house you're in once you get your electronic lease. Don't worry though, all the houses are connected in some way. :)
