I heard that Gene Clark couldn't even stand to be in the same room with (big mouth) David Crosby, another possible explanation for his absence

A nice simple tune but very enjoyable. I've been a fan since their days with the Byrds. I saw Roger McGuinn perform about four years ago.

Enjoy this video very much... especially seeing Roger, Gene and Chris performing here in early 1979. The Byrds FOREVERMORE 🎼🎤🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁

as it's obviously in the BBC Old Grey Whistle Test studio , it seems unlikely that it was recorded in Austin , Texas

They had three, sorta, albums. After M,C&H they had "City" featuring Clark who was on his way out and finally McGuinn & Hillman. I think the last just filled out their contractual obligations. Saw them in DC sans Clark.

Thank you for reposting this EXCELLENT video and song. I don't know what happened to your original posting but I appreciate you doing this again. One question - at the end of this video is a clip of Tom Waits. What was that from? One more question - would you PLEASE post the Tom Waits video? Again, thank you. Peace.

Not nearly as good as 'Surrender To Me.' Or as memorable. Good, nonetheless. The studio version sounds much better. Must be that freebasing.

I still have the tape I used to steal the whole album off the air. When I was in the Navy stationed in VA Beach, the local rado station would play an entire album once a week. This brings back big memories. Very cool of you to post it, thank you.

Too bad they couldn't release it as a Byrds song.
@jamescobern410211 жыл бұрын
The other reason David Crosby wasnt invited for this semi-byrds reunion was that Gene Clark couldnt stand to be in the same room with crosby.
@lastnamefirst40354 жыл бұрын
McGuinn didnt get along w crosby at all. Hillman always a bit evasive when asked about anyone. Gene never talked bad about anyone in an interview. Privately sure it was different
@southvaron7572 жыл бұрын
But the "Little Fat Guy", did make Gene even more attractive to all of the ladies, while performing. When that Byrds lineup was still together; I was always hoping Gene would crown him with that tambourine, then finish the song playing his guitar... and they would pro-ba-bly feel a whole lot better with him go-o-on.
